''Sorrow and Extinction'' is the debut full-length Pallbearer album. The CD was released by Profound Lore Records on February 21, 2012 with a double LP version released later in the year by 20 Buck Spin. The album was generally well received and was ranked #1 in Pitchfork's "Top 40 Metal Albums of 2012." The cover artwork was done by artist Sean Reynolds Williams. Pallbearer (band)
Pallbearer is an American doom metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas, formed in 2008. History Pallbearer was formed in 2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas by Brett Campbell and Joseph D. Rowland. The two met as students at the University of Central Arkansas and were previously in an experimental project, called Sports. After adding Devin Holt on second guitar and a drummer, Pallbearer recorded and self-released a three-song demo in 2010. The group was signed by Profound Lore Records in 2011. Pallbearer's first full length ''Sorrow and Extinction'' was released in 2012, earning immediate critical success. Doom metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres.K. A pallbearer is one of several participants who help carry the casket at a funeral. They may wear white gloves in order to prevent damaging the casket and to show respect to the deceased person. Some traditions distinguish between the roles of pallbearers and casket bearer. The former is a ceremonial position, carrying a tip of the pall or a cord attached to it. The latter do the actual heavy lifting and carrying. There may otherwise be pallbearers only in the symbolic sense if the casket is on an animal or vehicle.
