Sophia Foster-Dimino
Sophia Foster-Dimino is an American comics artist and illustrator living in San Francisco. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2010. Foster-Dimino worked for Google for four years, making commemorative logos, known as Google Doodles, before becoming a freelance illustrator. She won three Ignatz Awards at the 2015 edition with her comic book ''Sex Fantasy''. The work, which started as an independent zine, was published by Koyama Press in 2017. Rhode Island School Of Design
The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD , pronounced "Riz-D") is a private art and design school in Providence, Rhode Island. The school was founded as a coeducational institution in 1877 by Helen Adelia Rowe Metcalf, who sought to increase the accessibility of design education to women. Google Doodles
A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google's homepages intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and notable historical figures. The first Google Doodle honored the 1998 edition of the long-running annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City, Nevada, and was designed by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed. Early Marketing employee Susan Wojcicki then spearheaded subsequent Doodles, including an alien landing on Google and additional custom logos for major holidays. Ignatz Awards
The Ignatz Awards recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning by small press creators or creator-owned projects published by larger publishers. They have been awarded each year at the Small Press Expo since 1997, only skipping a year in 2001 due to the show's cancellation after the September 11 attacks. SPX has been held in either Bethesda, North Bethesda, or Silver Spring, Maryland. The Ignatz Awards are named in honour of George Herriman and his strip ''Krazy Kat'', which featured a brick-throwing mouse named Ignatz. Koyama Press is a comics publishing company founded in 2007 by Annie Koyama and based in Canada. Since its establishment in 2007, Koyama Press has sought to promote and provide support to an array of emerging and established artists.
