Sonoma State Seawolves
The Sonoma State Seawolves are the athletic teams that represent Sonoma State University, located in Rohnert Park, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Seawolves compete as members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association for all 13 varsity sports except for women's water polo, which competes in the Western Water Polo Association and men's and women's tennis, which compete in the Pacific West Conference. The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. All of its current members are public universities, and upon UC San Diego's departure on July 1, 2020, all are members of the California State University system (two of them being Cal Polys). The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship is an American intercollegiate college soccer tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to determine the Division II women's national champion. The Division II Championship has been held annually since 1988. It was the third of the NCAA-sponsored women's soccer tournaments to be established; the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship began in 1981 and the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship in 1986. NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships
The NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, played in late May, is an annual competition in U.S. men's collegiate golf. From its inception through 2010, it was a 72-hole stroke play team competition, with an additional award for the lowest scoring individual competitor. The team format changed starting in 2011 to 54 holes of stroke play followed by an eight-team single elimination medal match play competition. The 54-hole individual leader is the individual champion. Many of the individual champions have gone on to successful professional careers. The most successful individual winner is Lee Janzen (1986) who won eight times on the PGA Tour including two major championships, the 1993 and 1998 U.S. Opens. 2002 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship
The 2002 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship was the 31st annual tournament held by the NCAA to determine the top men's Division II college soccer program in the United States. On the strength of three 2nd half goals Sonoma State (19-3-1) defeated Southern New Hampshire in the tournament final, 4–3. This was the first national title for the Seawolves, who were coached by Marcus Ziemer. Sonoma State had previously been College Cup finalists in 1991. The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship is the annual tournament held by the NCAA to determine the top men's Division II college soccer program in the United States. It has been played annually since 1972; prior to then, all teams competed in a single class. The most successful program has been Southern Connecticut State, with six national titles.
