Sonia Vinci
Sonia Vinci (born 1971) is a former journalist and co-anchor of ''Nine News'' in Perth. She began a journalist in 1990 at Perth radio 6PR and later became Australia's youngest female news director. During her time at 6PR, Sonia also worked at Channel Seven Perth as a weekend journalist for Seven News, and also read sports news for Seven's Footy Show in 1994. She later worked for regional station GWN as a news anchor before returning to 6PR and the Channel 9 in 2000. She worked initially as a stand-by news anchor, but later became weeknight anchor, and with Dixie Marshall was part of Australia's first female duo news team from 2003–2007. ''Nine News'' (stylised ''9News'') is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. Its flagship program is the hour-long 6:00 pm state bulletin, produced by Nine's owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. National bulletins also air on weekday mornings, weekend afternoons and most nights of the week after 10:30pm. In addition, a supplementary regional news program for the Gold Coast in Queensland airs each weeknight as well as regional bulletins for Northern NSW and the Gold Coast under the name of ''NBN News'' air seven nights a week. Perth, Western Australia
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the fourth most populous city in Australia and Oceania, with a population of 2.1 million (80% of the state) living in Greater Perth in 2020. The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. As of 2014, it is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach. GWN7 was an Australian Television broadcasting in Australia, television network serving all of Western Australia outside metropolitan Perth. It launched on 10 March 1967 as ''BTW-3'' in Bunbury, Western Australia, Bunbury. It was an affiliate of the Seven Network and served one of the largest geographic television markets in the world—almost one-third of the continent. The network's name, ''GWN'', is an acronym of Golden West Network, the network's name from 1979 to when the current name was adopted in 2011. In 2021, GWN7's parent company Prime Media Group merged with Seven and the brand was retired in 2022. Dixie Marshall
Dixie Marshall (born March 1963) is a Western Australian former television news presenter and, from 2011 to 2017, was the media relations director, and then director of communications, strategic communications director, for Colin Barnett, the Premier of Western Australia. Career Marshall joined the Nine Network in Perth in 1984 as a cadet reporter. She became one of Australia's first female football commentators when she joined the Seven Network in Melbourne in the late 1980s. Returning to Perth in 1993, she left the sports department for general reporting, and progressed to become the Perth ''Nine News'' weeknight presenter alongside Peter Holland (broadcaster), Peter Holland. In June 2003, Sonia Vinci replaced Holland to form Australia's first permanent all-female weekday evening news presenting team. ''A Current Affair'' (or ''ACA'') is an Australian current affairs program airing weeknights and Saturday nights on the Nine Network. The program is currently hosted by Allison Langdon (Monday–Thursday) and Deborah Knight (Friday and Saturday). History 1970s ''A Current Affair'' was first broadcast on 22 November 1971, with Mike Willesee, screening weeknights at 7:00 p.m., and was broadcast for GTV-9. For part of its early run, the comedian and actor Paul Hogan had a comic social commentary segment. Under Willesee, ACA was a Transmedia production for the Nine Network.
