Songkhla Hospital
Songkhla Hospital () is one of the two main hospitals of Songkhla Province, Thailand, operated by the Ministry of Public Health the other being the larger Hatyai Hospital. It is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a general hospital. It has a CPIRD Medical Education Center which trains doctors for the Faculty of Medicine of Princess of Naradhiwas University. It is an affiliated teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University. History In 1921-1924 Prince Yugala Dighambara, then viceroy of the south, initiated the funding and planning of a hospital in central Songkhla City and on 26 June 1925, the Songkhlaphayaban was opened by Prince Mahidol Adulyadej. In 1935, operations were transferred so Songkhla City Municipality and thus the hospital was renamed Songkhla City Municipal Hospital. The Faculty of Medicine, Princess of Naradhiwas University () is a medical school located in Narathiwat, southern Thailand. The Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University () is the sixth oldest medical school in Thailand located in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province and is the fourth oldest faculty of Prince of Songkla University, opening in 1972 by royal decree. History Due to a lack of medical and healthcare personnel in Thailand, as well as various healthcare issues in Southern Thailand, the council of Prince of Songkla University requested for the construction of a Faculty of Medicine on 11 September 1968. The project was approved on 17 August 1971 and construction began at the Hat Yai campus of the university. The first cohort of medical students was accepted in June 1973, consisting of 35 students. Hatyai Hospital ( th, โรงพยาบาลหาดใหญ่) is a hospital in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, Thailand. It is classified as a regional hospital under the Ministry of Public Health, and it is one of two main hospitals operated by the MOPH in the province, the other being Songkhla Hospital. It serves as a referral centre for nearby community hospitals mainly within Songkhla, but also in parts of Pattani and Satun Provinces. It nominally has a capacity of 640 beds, but as is often the case with most regional hospitals, faces problems of overcrowding and is over-capacity most of the time. The hospital was founded in 1957 and has gradually expanded since then. Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU) is a government sponsored university in Narathiwat, southern Thailand. It was founded under the act on 9 February 2005 by merging all educational institutions in the province. Yugala Dighambara
Yugala Dighambara, Prince of Lopburi (March 17, 1882 – April 8, 1932) ( th, สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้ายุคลฑิฆัมพร กรมหลวงลพบุรีราเมศร์, ), was a son of King Chulalongkorn of Siam. Early life and education The Prince graduated from Cambridge University. He served as Viceroy of the South during the reign of his half-brother King Vajiravhud and as the Minister of the Interior in the government of King Prajadhipok. Personal life He married Princess Chalermkhetra Mangala (Bhanubandh), a daughter of Prince Bhanurangsi Savangwongse. Their grandson is the filmmaker Prince Chatrichalerm Yugala. Songkhla ( th, สงขลา, ), also known as Singgora or Singora (Pattani Malay: ซิงกอรอ), is a city (''thesaban nakhon'') in Songkhla Province of southern Thailand, near the border with Malaysia. Songkhla lies south of Bangkok and as of 2020 had a population of 61,758. Prem Tinsulanonda ( th, เปรม ติณสูลานนท์, , ; 26 August 1920 – 26 May 2019) was a Thai military officer, politician, and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 3 March 1980 to 4 August 1988, during which time he was credited with ending a communist insurgency and presiding over accelerating economic growth.
