Song Of The Sarong
''Song of the Sarong'' (1945) is a musical film starring Nancy Kelly and William Gargan. The film was written by Gene Lewis and directed by Harold Young. Plot There are valuable pearls worth millions of dollars being guarded by a formidable tribe of natives on the island of Kashira in the South Seas. Adventurer Drew Allen, who was once stranded on Kashira accepts an offer to recover the pearls. A thunderstorm, emergency landing, stowaways, and a confrontation with the natives complicate things. Harold Young (director)
Harold Young (November 13, 1897 – March 3, 1972) was an American film director, editor, and occasional actor. Career Young was born in 1897 in Portland, Oregon, where he was raised and attended high school. After graduating from Columbia University, Young began his career as a film editor from 1923-1934, working first on a series of George O'Hara (actor), George O'Hara short subjects under the director Malcolm St. Clair (filmmaker), Malcolm St. Clair. Young's best-known early directorial assignment is probably ''The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934 film), The Scarlet Pimpernel'' (1934), starring Leslie Howard (actor), Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon, one example of his occasional work in Britain. Lawrence Keating (June 13, 1899 – August 26, 1963) was an American actor best known for his roles as Harry Morton on ''The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show'', which he played from 1953 to 1958, and next-door neighbor Roger Addison on ''Mister Ed'', which he played from 1961 until his death in 1963. Early years Keating was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Career On April 6, 1937, Keating created ''Professor Puzzlewit'', a quiz program on KMJ radio in Fresno, California, and Blue Network west coast network. He also was the program's quizmaster. Keating was an announcer for NBC in the 1940s, an announcer for ABC radio's ''This Is Your FBI'' from 1945 to 1953, and a regular on the short-lived series ''The Hank McCune Show''. William Desmond (actor)
William Desmond (born William Mannion; January 23, 1878 – November 3, 1949) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1915 and 1948. He was nicknamed "The King of the Silent Serials." Born William Mannion in Horseheads, New York, he was raised in New York City. He later changed his surname to a stage name. He started out in vaudeville and the legitimate stage before making his film debut. In 1919, he married his co-star Mary McIvor, with whom he had two daughters. On November 3, 1949, Desmond died at age 71 of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California. He is interred at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory, Los Angeles. Clarence Lung (1914–1993) was a film and television actor.
