It borders Homabay County to the south with river Sondu-Miriu acting as a boundary to the south. It also acts as a transport hub between Kericho, Kisumu and Kisii towns as the Kisumu-Kisii highway passing through it. Nyanza Province
Nyanza Province (; sw, Mkoa wa Nyanza) was one of Kenya's Provinces of Kenya, eight administrative provinces before the formation of the Counties of Kenya, 47 counties under the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 constitution. Six counties were organised in the area of the former province. The region is located in the southwest part of Kenya around Lake Victoria, includes part of the eastern edge of Lake Victoria, and is inhabited predominantly by the Luo (Kenya and Tanzania), Luo people and Kisii people.
