Sondre Nordstad Moen
Sondre Nordstad Moen (born 12 January 1991) is a Norwegian long-distance runner. He set a European record in marathon in 2017 when winning the Fukuoka Marathon, a record he held for ten months. He has also held European records in 25,000 metres, and in one hour run. Personal life Nordstad Moen was born in Trondheim on 12 January 1991. Career Moen qualified to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he finished 19th in the marathon with a time of 2:14:17. After the Olympic Games in Rio, he asked the Italian Coach Renato Canova to follow his training, and the collaboration produced big improvement: European Marathon Record in Fukuoka (2:05:48 in 2017), Nordic Records in 10000m (27:24.79 in Kristiansand in 2019) and in Half Marathon (59:47 in 2017). Jos Hermens
Josephus ("Jos") Maria Melchior Hermens (born 8 January 1950 in Nijmegen, Gelderland) is a former Dutch long-distance runner. Subsequently, he also became well-known for his later career as a sports manager as the founder and CEO of Global Sports Communication, which manages many Olympian athletes. Running career Hermens is a three-time national champion in the men's 5,000 metres, and collected his first title on 14 July 1973 in The Hague. He was named Dutch Sportsman of the Year in 1975. He was a 10,000 metres finalist at the 1976 Summer Olympics and set the world record for the hour run the same year. Hermens twice improved the world hour record, on the Papendal track. In September 1975, with Gerard Tebroke as a pacemaker, he ran 20,907 meters. In May 1976, without a pacemaker, he ran an additional 37 meters. This record held until 1991. Impossible Games
The Bislett Games is an annual track and field meeting at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. History The first international athletics meeting at Bislett was held in 1924. Until 1937 the competitions are known as "The American Meetings". Different organizers staged the meetings between 1947 and 1965 until the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve formed the Bislett Alliance. At this year Arne Haukvik founded the Bislett Games. He was a former politician and director of the meeting, who used to invite the athletes, sponsors and the press to his home for his traditional "strawberry party" the day before the event each year. He died of cancer in 2002 at age 76. The tradition however is continued. Bashir Abdi
Bashir Abdi (born 10 February 1989) is a Somali-born Belgian athlete who specializes in long-distance running. He won bronze medals in the marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 World Championships. In doing so, Abdi became both the first ever Belgian world championship medal winner at the marathon and the first Belgian male athlete to win an individual medal at both the Olympic Games and World Athletics Championships. He was also the silver medalist in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 European Championships. Kaan Kigen Özbilen
Mike Kipruto Kigen (born 15 January 1986) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He specializes in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres and won silver medals in both events at the African Championships in Athletics in 2006 representing Kenya. In October 2015, he changed his name to Kaan Kigen Özbilen and has since then competed for Turkey. Career Kigen was born in Keiyo District. He graduated in 2005 from the Simotwo High School in Ainabkoi, Keiyo South District where He was represented the school in various competitions. He is based at the PACE Sports Management training camp in Kaptagat. Kigen's breakthrough year came in 2006 when he represented Kenya internationally at three competitions. 2018 European Athletics Championships
The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. For the second Championships in a row the Russian team did not participate; this was due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, several athletes were cleared by the IAAF to compete as Authorised Neutral Athletes under the flag of the European Athletic Association.
