"Something in Your Eyes" is a song by Richard Carpenter, released as the first single from his debut solo album, ''Time''. It reportedly was to have been the lead single off the Carpenters' album ''Voice of the Heart ''Voice of the Heart'' is the posthumous eleventh studio album by American pop duo The Carpenters, Carpenters. It was released in 1983 after Karen Carpenter, Karen's death and contains the two songs from her final recording sessions, "Now" and "Y ...''; however, Karen Carpenter died before having had the opportunity to lay down a vocal track (although, according to Richard's album notes, Karen had been very excited and looking forward to recording the song). Richard ultimately chose Dusty Springfield to record the vocal in conjunction with his arrangement, backing vocals and instrumentation. It peaked at number 12 on the US Adult Contemporary chart. Richard Carpenter (musician)
Richard Lynn Carpenter (born October 15, 1946) is an American pianist, singer, songwriter, record producer, and music arranger, who formed half of the sibling duo the Carpenters alongside his younger sister Karen. He had numerous roles in the Carpenters, including record producer, arranger, pianist, keyboardist, and song writer, as well as joining with Karen on harmony vocals. Childhood Richard Lynn Carpenter was born at Grace-New Haven Hospital (now called Yale New Haven Hospital) in New Haven, Connecticut, the same hospital where his sister, Karen, was later born. His parents were Agnes Reuwer Tatum (a housewife) (March 5, 1915 – November 10, 1996) and Harold Bertram Carpenter (November 8, 1908 – October 15, 1988). Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer, who formed half of the sibling duo the Carpenters alongside her older brother Richard. With a distinctive three-octave contralto range, she was praised by her peers for her vocal skills. Carpenter's struggle with and eventual death of heart failure related to her years-long struggle with anorexia would later raise awareness of eating disorders and body dysmorphia and their possible causes. Carpenter was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and moved to Downey, California in 1963 with her family. She began to study the drums in high school and joined the Long Beach State choir after graduating.
