Something About You (Joey Yung Album)
''Something About You'' is Joey Yung's fourth Cantonese full length studio album, released on 15 May 2002. Background This was Joey Yung's first album since she temporarily "lost her voice" in late 2001 and her 3-month break from the HK music industry. The break was spent recovering, improving her dancing skills in the United States and getting a plastic surgery to upgrade her appearance in Japan. Through the help of an excellent singing teacher, she regained her voice through acupuncture in Nanjing (though her voice is not as stable as it used to be). Being the first album after not being in the spotlight for a while, this was a highly anticipated album, selling over 50,000 copies in Hong Kong (Platinum status). This album is a fan favourite because almost all songs were considered "plug/single worthy", as 9 out of 10 songs has been performed live before and/or were promoted. Release and Promotion 一面之緣, 抱抱, Mad About You, and 啜泣 were plugged/promoted and perfo ...

Cantopop (a contraction of "Cantonese pop music") or HK-pop (short for "Hong Kong pop music") is a genre of pop music written in standard Chinese and sung in Cantonese. Cantopop is also used to refer to the cultural context of its production and consumption. The genre began in the 1970s and became associated with Hong Kong popular music from the middle of the decade. Cantopop then reached its height of popularity in the 1980s and 1990s before slowly declining in the 2000s and experiencing a slight revival in the 2010s. The term "Cantopop" itself was coined in 1978 after "Cantorock", a term first used in 1974. In the eighties Cantopop has reached its highest glory with fanbase and concerts from allover the world, especially from Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan. This is even more obvious with the influx of songs from Hong Kong movies during the time. Besides Western pop music, Cantopop is also influenced by other international genres, includin ...

Solemn On Stage
''Solemn on Stage'' is Joey Yung's third Cantonese full-length studio album, released on 11 October 2001. Background This album was considered different compared to Joey's past albums, as it had a more variety of pop and less R&B, and lead Joey's music to a new direction, more like the music she is releasing now. This album included the theme of Joey's second solo concert and first solo concert series, ~H2O+ Solemn on Stage Live 2001. The concert theme, also the main track for this album, was originally called "Explosive Queen", as the concert was originally called "Explode the Hong Kong Coliseum Live". The concert name was then changed to its actual name after 11 September attack, thus also changing the name of the song. During the time this album was released, Joey voice was already starting to become strained, leading to the infamous voice loss incident that started later on that year.
