Adeline Marie Russell, Duchess of Bedford, (''née'' Somers-Cocks; 24 September 1852 – 12 April 1920) was a British advocate for penal reform. She led the European War Fund that cared for the wounded of the First World War. Life Lady Adeline Marie Somers was born in 1852 to Virginia (Pattle) and Charles Somers-Cocks, 3rd Earl Somers, Charles Somers-Cocks, Viscount Eastnor. Her grandfather died just 12 days after her birth and her father succeeded as 3rd Earl Somers. Her mother was a sister of Julia Margaret Cameron, the British Victorian photographer. Julia Stephen, Virginia Woolf's mother, was her first cousin (she was the daughter of Maria Theodosia "Mia" Jackson whose maiden name was Pattle). Vaughan Somers (born 27 May 1951) is an Australian professional golfer. Somers was born in Queensland, Australia. Somers had modest success as a professional golfer, winning the 1975 North Coast Open and the 1985 Ford Dealers South Australian Open. He also had some other top three finishes including runner-up in both the 1983 KLM Dutch Open and the 1986 Victorian Open, and third place in the 1987 Australian Masters. Somers played in multiple Open Championships, making the cut four times with his best finish a tie for 21st place in the 1986 Open Championship. He tied DaBryan Blanton for the second fastest 200 metres run by a youth athlete, only behind Usain Bolt, and was ranked as the fastest senior European athlete over the distance in 2014 while still competing as a youth. Richard Somers (September 15, 1778 – September 4, 1804) was an officer of the United States Navy, killed during an assault on Tripoli during the First Barbary War. Early career Born at Great Egg Harbor, New Jersey, he attended the Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia with future naval heroes Stephen Decatur and Charles Stewart. He was appointed midshipman on April 23, 1797, and served in the West Indies during the Quasi-War with France on the frigate ''United States'' with Decatur and Stewart, a ship commanded by Captain John Barry. He was promoted to lieutenant on May 21, 1799. In 1800, Somers fought three duels on the same day with multiple opponents because they accused him of cowardice for failing to challenge Decatur over a joking insult they overheard.
