Soma Kumari Tennakoon
Soma Kumari Tennakoon (18 June 1960 – 24 September 2009) was a Sri Lankan politician from the Kurunegala District. She was a former member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and served as a top member of the Wayamba Provincial Council representing the United People's Freedom Alliance. She also held the title of chairman of Laksala. At the time of her death, she was visiting Hambantota in order to help the Southern Provincial council elections. She was the daughter of Mudiyanse Tennakoon Mudiyanse Tennakoon (born 16 June 1934 - 11 December 1991) was a Ceylonese politician, colloquially known as Podi Putha (youngest son). Mudiyanse Tennakoon (born 16 June 1934 - 11 December 1991) was a Ceylonese politician, colloquially known as Podi Putha (youngest son). He received his primary education at Maho Central School and his secondary education at S. Thomas' College, Gurutalawa After completing his school education he worked on the Yarrow Tea Estate in Pupuressa. He was first elected to parliament at the 3rd parliamentary election in April 1956, representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the Nikaweratiya electorate, defeating the sitting United National Party member Kavisena Herath, 15,914 votes to 7,829, becoming, at the age of 22, the youngest parliamentarian in Ceylon. Wayamba Provincial Council
North Western Province ( si, වයඹ පළාත ''Wayamba Paḷāta'', ta, வட மேல் மாகாணம் ''Vada Mael Mākāṇam'') is a province of Sri Lanka. The province consists of the districts of Kurunegala and Puttalam.
