Solomon Grundy is a supervillain and occasional antihero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was originally depicted as a murder victim brought back to life as a corporeal revenant or zombie, though subsequent versions of the character have occasionally depicted a different origin. His name is taken from the 19th century nursery rhyme " Solomon Grundy". Grundy was introduced as an enemy of comic book hero Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern), but has since become a prominent enemy for a number of superheroes such as Superman, Batman, and other members of the Justice League. As a revenant whose backstory often involves coming back to life after being deposited in the swamp, later writers have also given him ties to Swamp Thing, one of DC's horror-fantasy heroes. Solomon Grundy was an American Grunge band from Ellensburg, Washington, formed in 1989 by Screaming Trees bassist Van Conner Van Conner (born March 17, 1967) is an American rock musician, best known as the bassist for Screaming Trees. Career As a bass player in high school, Conner formed the band Explosive Generation with his brother Gary Lee Conner and Mark Pick .... History The band was formed by Conner as a side project outside of his full-time band Screaming Trees. In Solomon Grundy he performed lead vocals and played guitar, rather than playing bass guitar as with Screaming Trees. The band also included guitarist Lee McCullough, bassist Jim King, and drummer Sean Hollister. They released an album in 1990; it was originally titled ''Stone Soup and Other Stories'' but this was later changed to simply ''Solomon Grundy''.
