Sal Solo (born Christopher Scott Stevens; b. 5 September 1961 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England) is an English singer. Career Solo began his career with a band called The News, which released one 7" single on GTO Records. Then he formed the pop group Classix Nouveaux, with former members of X-Ray Spex, which became associated with the burgeoning New Romantic movement. They released three albums with EMI Records. Neba Solo (born 1969) is the stage name of Souleymane Traoré, a musician based in Mali, West Africa. Neba Solo plays a kind of balafon, a marimba with wooden keys mounted on a wooden frame and attached to resonating chambers made from dried gourds. Traoré hails from the village of Nebadougou, in the eastern part of the Sikasso region of Mali. His stage name derives from his home town, plus the shortened form of his first name (Souleymane). He learned to play the balafon from his father, who was also an accomplished musician. He also learned how to make balafons from his father with local materials. He soon began performing with other musicians and formed a group, with himself playing balafon and singing, his younger brother Siaka also playing balafon, and various others from Nebadougou on accompanying percussion instruments. Singing career In 1964, Solo participated in the Sanremo Music Festival with the song " Una lacrima sul viso" ("A Tear on your Face", written by "Lunero"), but affected by laryngitis, he sang with playback, which disqualified him as that was contrary to the festival regulations. The song, however, became a global hit. It was the first record to sell over one million copies in Italy, and global sales exceeded three million. It was awarded a gold disc. In the following year Solo won in the festival with the song "Se piangi, se ridi". He participated with the same song in the Eurovision Song Contest and finished in fifth place. Methaneilie Solo (born 27 July 1955), better known by his stage name Methaneilie Jütakhrie, is an Indian singer and composer from Nagaland who became successful as a musician in the 1980s and 1990s. Early years Methaneilie Solo was born on 27 July 1955 to an Angami Naga family from the Tsütuonuomia Thinuo of Kohima Village. His mother and father were Khrienuo and Zajükhrie Solo. Solo became hunchbacked at the age of four after a wrestling match with his brother and could study only up to 4th class. However, his parents and friends encouraged him to sing. Career Methaneilie Solo composed his first song in 1973, and recorded his first album in 1984. In 1993, his 12th volume of cassette was released which includes recording in his own Angami dialect (Tenyidie), as well as translations from other tribal languages and Hindi.
