Soldiers Of The Sea
''Soldiers of the Sea'' is a 1939 RKO-Pathe News two-reeler short subject narrative featuring the U.S. Marine Corps. It was produced by Frederic Ullman Jr. and supervised by Frank Donovan. Through narration and film footage, the film shows and tells the history, mission statement, capabilities, equipment, and training of the United States Marines. Many sequences of the film were used in RKO's Victor McLaglen and Edmund Lowe's 1941 comedy ''Call Out the Marines''. Subject matter The film begins with an aerial view of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Recruit Training and the Sea School of the Marines are shown along with sequences of rowing whaleboats, foot drill and bayonet fighting conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Anthony J. Drexel Biddle. United States Marine Corps Aviation
United States Marine Corps Aviation (USMCA) is the aircraft arm of the United States Marine Corps. Aviation units within the Marine Corps are assigned to support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, as the aviation combat element, by providing six functions: Assault Support, assault support, anti-aircraft warfare, antiair warfare, close air support, electronic warfare, Command and control, control of aircraft and missiles, and Reconnaissance#Reconnaissance from air and space vehicles, aerial reconnaissance. 6th Marine Regiment
The 6th Marine Regiment (also referred to as "6th Marines") is an infantry regiment of the United States Marine Corps based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine Division (United States), 2nd Marine Division of the II Marine Expeditionary Force. Its combat history dates back to World War I when they were part of the American Expeditionary Force. M116 Howitzer
The 75mm Pack Howitzer M1 (redesignated the M116 in 1962) was a pack howitzer artillery piece used by the United States. Designed to be moved across difficult terrain, gun and carriage could be broken down into several pieces to be carried by pack animals. The gun saw combat in World War II with the United States Army (primarily used by airborne units), with the United States Marine Corps, and was also supplied to foreign forces.
