Soldier Boy (film)
''Soldier Boy'' (russian: Солдатик, Soldatik) is a 2019 Russian-language film. It is based on the real-life story of the youngest soldier in World War II, Sergei Aleshkov, who was only 6 years old. Synopsis The film is based on the true story of a six-year-old boy who became a Soviet war hero during World War II. The film shows the struggle of war and the horrific scenes the boy witnessed during the war. Sergei (Seryozha) Aleshkov loses his family, and the last remaining member of his family (his aunt) is captured by the Germans. Sergei is then rescued by an army regiment 142nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 47th Guards Rifle Division). He is adopted by the unit commander, Commander Kuznetsov, and becomes the youngest member of a regiment in WWII. In addition to being beloved by the soldiers of the unit, he distinguishes himself with numerous heroic acts, for which he earns the Medal "For Battle Merit" on April 26, 1943. Andrey Igorevich Andreev (russian: Андрей Игоревич Андреев; born 18 October 2010) is a Russian teen actor. He is best known for his title role as Sergei Aleshkov in the film ''Soldier Boy'' (2019). Early life and education Andrey Andreev was born on 18 October 2010 in Moscow. He was raised in a military family. Andreev attended the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory. Career Andreev entered the Big Children's Choir in 2015. A year later, his parents signed him up for the Young Actor's Musical Theatre. There, he became a member of the theater's troupe and soon began to play leading roles in performances. His first major role in a theatrical was as Vasya in "In the Nursery" (В детской). Andreev was chosen to play as Sergei Aleshkov in the film ''Soldier Boy.'' Andreev, who was five years old at that time, beat out more than 400 applicants to win the role. Sergei Andreyevich Aleshkov (russian: Сергей Андреевич Алёшков, 15 February 1936 – ) was a Soviet soldier, adopted "Son of the Regiment", and the youngest to serve in World War II at 6 years old. Biography Before the War, Sergei lived with his family in the forest village of Gryn (now the Ulyanovsk district of the Kaluga Oblast). Sergei's father died before the war, and his brothers Ivan and Andrei enlisted in the army, leaving Sergei and his brother Peter with their mother. His mother & brother were executed by the Nazis in front of him for their links to the partisans. He was found wandering a forest by a reconnaissance group of the 142nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the Soviet Army, where he was officially adopted by the commander. His future military career was unsuccessful due to his poor health as he had been smoking from a young age, and he eventually died of a heart attack on 1 February, 1990. The Medal "For Battle Merit" (russian: Медаль «За боевые заслуги») was a Soviet military medal awarded for " combat action resulting in a military success", "courageous defense of the state borders", or "successful military and political training and preparation". It was created on October 17, 1938 by the decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. Like the Medal "For Courage", its status was revised to prevent the medal from being given for years of service (a practice that was rampant in the USSR) rather than actual bravery during a battle.
