Sohar ( ar, صُحَار, also Romanized as Suḥār) is the capital and largest city of the Al Batinah North Governorate in Oman. An ancient capital of the country that once served as an important Islamic port town, Suhar has also been credited as the mythical birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor. According to the 2010 census, Suhar's population was 140,006, making it Oman's fifth most-populated settlement. Sohar Sporting Club ( ar, نادي صحار الرياضي) is an Omani sports club based in Sohar, Oman. The club is currently playing in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is in City of Sohar. History The club got promoted to the Omani League, top division of Oman Football Association after winning the promotion/relegation play-off in the 2012-13 First Division League against Al Tali'aa.
