Soft Pink Truth
The Soft Pink Truth is an experimental house music side-project from Drew Daniel, one-half of experimental electronic music duo Matmos. Daniel started the project on a dare from Matthew Herbert that he could not produce a house record. ''Do You Party?'', the first album from the Soft Pink Truth, was released in 2003, and featured, among other original songs, a cover of Vanity 6's "Make Up". In 2004, Daniel followed up with the Soft Pink Truth's second album, entitled ''Do You Want New Wave (Or Do You Want the Soft Pink Truth?)'' (irreverently abbreviated to ''DYWNWODYWTSPT''), a reference to a song by Minutemen. The album consisted entirely of house covers of classic hardcore and punk songs including "Do They Owe Us a Living?" by Crass, 'Homosexual' by the Angry Samoans and "Real Shocks" by the Swell Maps. ''Do You Want New Wave or Do You Want the Soft Pink Truth?'' is the second album by the Soft Pink Truth, a side-project of Drew Daniel of the electronic music duo Matmos. This album consists of covers of various punk rock and hardcore bands from the 1970s and '80s. The album title itself is an allusion to the song title "Do You Want New Wave or Do You Want the Truth?" by the Minutemen from their ''Double Nickels on the Dime'' album. ''Vespertine'' is the fourth studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk. It was released on 27 August 2001 in the United Kingdom by One Little Independent Records and in the United States by Elektra Entertainment. Crust punk (also known as crust or stenchcore) is a form of music influenced by English punk rock and extreme metal. The style, which evolved in the early 1980s in England, often has songs with dark and pessimistic lyrics that linger on political and social ills. Jenn Wasner
Jennifer Lynn Wasner (born April 16, 1986) is an American musician from Baltimore, Maryland. Wasner is best known as one of the founding members of the band Wye Oak, along with Andy Stack. They have performed on tour with notable bands such as The National and The Decemberists. Wasner has completed numerous other music projects as well, including a solo project entitled Flock of Dimes, and a collaboration called Dungeonesse with Jon Ehrens of White Life and Art Department. Early life Wasner was born on April 16, 1986, in Baltimore, Maryland. She began singing at an early age with her mother, and eventually started taking classical piano lessons at the around the age of five.
