Sock-a-Doodle-Do
''Sock-A-Doodle-Do'' is a 1952 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' animated short directed by Robert McKimson. The cartoon was released on May 10, 1952, and features Foghorn Leghorn and the Barnyard Dawg. The voices are performed by Mel Blanc, though Banty was voiced by an uncredited Sheldon Leonard. Plot The cartoon opens with a car pulling a small trailer carrying "Kid Banty", a champion fighting rooster. The car hits a bump and Kid Banty falls out of the trailer. Banty, wearing boxing gloves, begins punching a cow when the bell around its neck rings, indicating that his aggression is triggered by bells. The Barnyard Dawg is securing a large pipe to a makeshift elevated platform constructed out of wood. Dawg affixes a sign that reads "See A Genuine Flying Saucer." Foghorn Leghorn, curious, looks inside the pipe, whereupon Dawg launches a teacup saucer through the pipe, which breaks on Foghorn's head. Sheldon Leonard
Sheldon Leonard Bershad (February 22, 1907 – January 11, 1997) was an American film and television actor, producer, director, and screenwriter. Early life Sheldon Leonard Bershad was born in Manhattan, New York City, the son of middle-class Jewish parents Anna Levit and Frank Bershad. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1929. Career As an actor, Leonard specialized in playing supporting characters, especially gangsters or "heavies". His trademark was his especially thick New York accent, usually delivered from the side of his mouth. (He would often pronounce ''th'' as ''t'' and would say ''er'' as ''oi'', thus he would pronounce ''earth'' as ''oit''.) His breakthrough role was in ''Another Thin Man'' (1939), in which he played a soft-spoken but dangerous murder suspect. Foghorn Leghorn
Foghorn Leghorn is a cartoon rooster who appears in ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoons and films from Warner Bros. Animation. He was created by Robert McKimson, and starred in 29 cartoons from 1946 to 1964 in the golden age of American animation. All 29 of these cartoons were directed by McKimson. Foghorn Leghorn's first appearance was in the 1946 Henery Hawk short ''Walky Talky Hawky''. Foghorn's voice was created and originally performed by Mel Blanc and was later performed by Jeff Bergman, Joe Alaskey, Greg Burson, Frank Gorshin, Jeff Bennett, Bill Farmer, and Eric Bauza. Inspiration Foghorn Leghorn was directly inspired by the character of Senator Claghorn, a blustery Southern politician played by Kenny Delmar on Fred Allen's popular 1940s radio show. Barnyard Dawg
Barnyard Dawg is a '' Looney Tunes'' character. A feisty anthropomorphic basset hound, he is the archenemy of Foghorn Leghorn. He was created by Robert McKimson, who also created Foghorn, and was voiced by Mel Blanc. Dawg also feuds with other enemies as well like Henery Hawk, Daffy Duck and Sylvester. He appeared in 23 Golden Age–era Warner Bros. shorts. Biography Dawg's first appearance was in ''Walky Talky Hawky'' (1946), the same Henery Hawk cartoon in which Foghorn himself first appeared. Although, in that cartoon, Dawg initiates hostilities with Foghorn by dropping a watermelon on his head (prompting Foghorn to grumble "Every day, it's the same thing!"), Dawg is usually seen sleeping in his kennel at a cartoon's beginning, with Foghorn provoking him by slapping his hindquarters with a wooden fencepost, setting the stage for Dawg to seek vengeance, often by manipulating Henery Hawk. Robert McKimson
Robert Porter McKimson Sr. (October 13, 1910 – September 29, 1977) was an American animator and illustrator, best known for his work on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons from Warner Bros. Cartoons and later DePatie–Freleng Enterprises. He wrote and directed many animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Hippety Hopper, and The Tasmanian Devil, among other characters. He was also well known for defining Bugs Bunny's look in the 1943 short ''Tortoise Wins by a Hare''. Career Born in Denver, Colorado, McKimson spent ten years gaining an art education at the Lukits School of Art. ''Lovelorn Leghorn'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Robert McKimson. The cartoon was released on September 8, 1951, and features Foghorn Leghorn, Miss Prissy and the Barnyard Dawg. Plot Miss Prissy is trying to land a husband. All the other hens laugh, and make fun of her, saying she couldn't catch a husband with a bear trap. When they ask Prissy if she has something to clunk him on the head with, Prissy hears them, says "Yes", and pulls out a rolling pin. And with that, she leaves the coop ignoring the other hens laughing. Meanwhile, Foghorn Leghorn is taking a nap in the sun. The Barnyard Dawg sees his chance, and splashes cold water, thus waking the rooster up with a shock and scream. When he demands who's responsible, the dog reveals himself by poking him in the shoulder. Just when the rooster's about to catch him, he closes Foggy's umbrella on him.
