Society Of Young Artists
The Society of Young Artists (russian: ОБМОХУ; Общество Молодых Художников) (OBMOKhU) was a collective of artists in revolutionary Russia. They experimented with spatial constructions and the properties of industrial materials. The group existed 1919 to 1922. History Following the Russian Revolution art education was re-organised through the establishment of svomas. The Stroganov School for Technical Drawing (later Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry) became the First Free State Art Workshops. However, by the summer 1919, the mass mobilisation for the Red Army currently involved in the Russian Civil War led to students graduating from the workshops joining up. Nikolai Glushkov (artist)
Nikolay Alekseevich Glushkov (russian: Николай Алексеевич Глушков; 24 December 1949 – 12 March 2018) was a Russian businessman who was the deputy director of Aeroflot and a finance manager for AvtoVAZ who died in suspicious circumstances. After claiming that Aeroflot worked as a "cash cow to support international spying operations", he was arrested and tried in Russia on the allegation of funnelling Aeroflot money through another company in 1999. He was convicted and released in 2004, after serving three years. He emigrated to the UK in 2010 and received political asylum. In 2017, he was convicted in absentia in Russia for allegedly stealing money from Aeroflot, but his extradition from Britain had been denied. Initially treated as "unexplained", his death is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police who are treating it as a murder inquiry. Alexander Ilyich Naumov
Alexander Ilyich Naumov (1899-1928) was a Russian a painter, interior designer, book designer and poster artist who was active following the Russian Revolution. He graduated from the Stroganov School of Arts in 1916, but then continued his studies by enrolling in another course in decorative arts. In 1919 he was one of the main initiators of the Society of Young Artists (OBMOKhU), with whom he exhibited over the next few years. He designed posters for a number of films including ''The Man on the Comet ''The Man on the Comet'' (german: Der Mann auf dem Kometen) is a 1925 German silent adventure film directed by Alfred Halm starring Luciano Albertini, Maly Delschaft, and Elena Lunda.Grange p. 194 The film's art direction was led by Willi Herrm ...'' Grigori Vasilyevich Aleksandrov or Alexandrov (russian: Григо́рий Васи́льевич Алекса́ндров; original family name was Мормоненко or Mormonenko; 23 January 1903 – 16 December 1983) was a prominent Soviet cinema, Soviet film director who was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1947 and a Hero of Socialist Labour in 1973. He was awarded the USSR State Prize, Stalin Prizes for 1941 and 1950. Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution was a period of Political revolution (Trotskyism), political and social revolution that took place in the former Russian Empire which began during the First World War. This period saw Russia abolish its monarchy and adopt a socialist form of government following two successive revolutions and a bloody civil war.
