Sochi Symphony Orchestra
The Sochi Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra based in Sochi, Russia. History The orchestra was founded in 1991 as a chamber ensemble, in 2001 it received the status of a symphony orchestra. Its current chief conductor is Oleg Soldatov. The orchestra regularly gives concerts in Sochi and other Russian towns. Sochi
Sochi ( rus, Со́чи, p=ˈsotɕɪ, a=Ru-Сочи.ogg) is the largest resort city in Russia. The city is situated on the Sochi River, along the Black Sea in Southern Russia, with a population of 466,078 residents, up to 600,000 residents in the urban area. Oleg Soldatov (Russian: Олег Юрьевич Солдатов; born 9 January 1963) is a Russian conductor. Life Soldatov studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and received his diploma in 1986. From 1990 to 1991 he was the artistic director of the ''Tomsk Symphony Orchestra'', from 1992 to 2006 he headed the ''Symphony Orchestra of the Karelian Philharmony''. Conducting
Conducting is the art of directing a musical performance, such as an orchestral or choral concert. It has been defined as "the art of directing the simultaneous performance of several players or singers by the use of gesture." Denis Leonidovich Matsuev ( rus, Дени́с Леони́дович Мацу́ев /ma'tsujef/; born June 11, 1975) is a Russian classical pianist and occasional jazz performer. Biography Born in Irkutsk, Soviet Union, Matsuev is the only child of two musicians, as his mother is a piano teacher and his father is a pianist and composer. He demonstrated a musical ear at age 3, when he reproduced on the piano at home a melody that he heard on television. His father subsequently became his first piano teacher. Until age 15, Matsuev studied music in Irkutsk. In 1990, he won a prize at the "New Names Charitable Foundation" competition in Irkutsk and received a stipend, $1,000 a month, from the foundation to study music in Moscow. With other young gifted musicians from Russia discovered by the foundation, Matsuev went on tour in Europe and the United States. Johanna Beisteiner
Johanna Beisteiner (born 20 February 1976) is an Austrian classical guitarist, singer and arranger. Life Johanna Beisteiner received her first guitar lessons at the age of nine at the Josef Matthias Hauer music school in her hometown Wiener Neustadt. In 1992, when only sixteen years of age, she became a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, from where she graduated as a concert guitarist as well as a Doctor of philosophy with a PhD Thesis on ''Art music in figure skating, synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics''. Johanna Beisteiner is an internationally active guitar soloist and singer, her repertoire contains music from the 15th to the 20th century as well as contemporary classical music.
