Sobiranistes
Sobiranistes ( en, "Sovereigntists") is a political party of the republican and Catalan sovereigntist left, formed by a splinter group from Catalunya en Comú (CatComú) led by Joan Josep Nuet and Elisenda Alamany, deputies in the Parliament of Catalonia. History Sobiranistes was initially constituted on 23 October 2018 as a political platform the Catalunya en Comú–Podem group in the Parliament of Catalonia by deputies Elisenda Alamany and Joan Josep Nuet, under the ''Som comuns, som sobiranistes'' (We are common, we are sovereigntist) motto. Republican Left of Catalonia–Sovereigntists ( ca, Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya–Sobiranistes, ERC–Sobiranistes) is an electoral coalition formed in Catalonia for the April 2019 Spanish general election by Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) and Sovereigntists (Sobiranistes). November 2019 Spanish General Election
The November 2019 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 10 November 2019, to elect the 14th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 265 seats in the Senate. The election was held as provided under article 99.5 of the Spanish Constitution, as a result of the failure in government formation negotiations between the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and Unidas Podemos following Pedro Sánchez's failed investiture voting on 23–25 July 2019. Elisenda Alamany
Elisenda Alamany i Gutiérrez (born 1983) is a Spanish teacher and politician, currently serving as a member of the City Council of Barcelona, since June 2019. From January 2018 to April 2019 she was a deputy in the 12th Legislature of the Parliament of Catalonia. Initially part of the coalition Catalunya en Comú–Podem, she was the spokesperson for its parliamentary group from 18 January to 29 October 2018. In October 2018, she promoted the platform Sobiranistes (Sovereigntists) as a criticism of the leadership of En Comú Podem. In February 2019 she left the parliamentary group but kept her seat. Joan Josep Nuet i Pujals (born 6 August 1964) is a Spaniards, Spanish politician from Catalonia who currently serves as Member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain. He was previously a member of the Senate of Spain and the Parliament of Catalonia. A member of the Party of the Communists of Catalonia since 1986, Nuet became its secretary-general in January 2010. He has been secretary-general of the Communists of Catalonia since its formation in November 2014. He was co-ordinator general of the United and Alternative Left from June 2012 to June 2019. Nuet was a member of Montcada i Reixac Municipal Council from 1991 to 2003 and served two terms as a deputy mayor. The Cortes Generales (; en, Spanish Parliament, lit=General Courts) are the bicameral legislative chambers of Spain, consisting of the Congress of Deputies (the lower house), and the Senate (the upper house). Barcelona is one of the 52 constituencies ( es, circunscripciones) represented in the Congress of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency currently elects 32 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Barcelona.
