Soar Automotive (officially Qingdao SOAR Automotive Group, Ltd.) () is a Chinese motor vehicle manufacturing company headquartered in Qingdao. It is specialized in coach building bespoke vehicles including ambulances, police cars, funeral hearses, limousines, courtesy buses and special military vehicles. Soar was formed in 1991 through the merger of a number of Qingdao-based automotive companies and has produced automobiles since 2001. Operations The Soar corporate campus in Qingdao includes 40,000 square meters of buildings. Around 80 engineers and 180 other professional staff are based at the site. Products Soar's products include specialised military vehicles, patient transport vehicles, funeral hearses, bespoke luxury cars, exhibition vehicles and other vehicles for special use. The Brilliance BS4 is a four-door compact notchback sedan produced by Brilliance Auto in the People's Republic of China, where it is known as the Zhonghua Junjie. The car was scheduled for launch in Germany, Europe's largest national car market, in 2007. Following poor crash test results of the BS6 model and ensuing press comments, a Western launch was postponed at the last minute, and German sales were expected to start in the autumn of 2008, when the vehicle's structure was expected to have been modified in order to achieve improved European crash test ratings. The Rolls-Royce Phantom V is a large four-door limousine produced by Rolls-Royce Limited from 1959 to 1968. Based on the Silver Cloud II, it shares a V8 engine and General Motors Hydra-Matic automatic gearbox with that model. Asquith Motors is an English commercial vehicle manufacturer of hand built replicas since 1981 and originally based in Braintree, Essex. The company was founded by Bruce West, who designed the logo, created the name and designed all the early vehicles. His concept was to create modern vehicles with the potential of mass advertising through the appeal of historic vehicles. In 1984, West sold the moulds to Hunnable Holdings of Yeldham, Great Yeldham, Essex. Mr West started building "retro-style" delivery vans on the Ford Transit chassis in 1982. In 1991, the company announced production of a 1930s-style taxi cab that would meet the London Public Carriage Office regulations on a purpose-built chassis.
