So Cow
So Cow are an indie rock band from County Galway, Ireland. It was started as the recording project of Brian Kelly in 2005 in Seoul, South Korea. The group evolved into a three piece band with Jonny White on bass and Peter O'Shea on drums for 2014's ''The Long Con,'' released on Goner Records'','' as well as 2012's ''Out Of Season'' split album with Squarehead. The band have appeared at Primavera Sound, SXSW & Castlepalooza. Their sound has been described by Pitchfork as "''Like Television Personalities or The Clean at their most engaging, Kelly plays rickety guitar-pop that sounds homemade without feeling insular."'' The group received media attention in 2009 in South Korea after naming a song after the popular South Korean actress and model Moon Geun-young. Seaport Music Festival
Seaport Music Festival was an international music festival historically staged at South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan during the summer. Founded in 2002, the annual music series ran until Pier 17 was closed for construction. Squarehead (band)
Squarehead are an Irish garage pop band from Dublin composed of lead singer / guitarist Roy Duffy, bassist Ian McFarlane and Ruan van Vliet on drums. History Squarehead were formed in January 2010 when Roy Duffy began recording solo acoustic songs. Roy and Ian had previously been in a band (called Vimanas) with Lar Kaye of Adebisi Shank. The band released their first single "Fake Blood" on 7" Vinyl through Any Other City Records, a label run by Villagers drummer, James Byrne. In a public vote on Nialler9 Music Blog, "Fake Blood" was voted Number One in "Irish Songs of 2010" The band's second single, "Midnight Enchilada" was released by the Richter Collective Label (Adebisi Shank, The Redneck Manifesto, ASIWYFA) on 21 March 2011. Greg Saunier
Greg Saunier (born 18 May 1969) is a musician, producer, and composer best known as the drummer and founding member of Deerhoof. ''Rolling Stone'' included Saunier alongside Brian Chippendale (of Lightning Bolt) and Zach Hill (of Hella, later Death Grips and the I.L.Y's) as together composing "a generation of trailblazing 21st-century avant-rock percussionists". Career Saunier graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1991. The next year, he joined a four-piece band, Nitre Pit, in San Francisco as its drummer. When the band's two guitarists left, Saunier and Nitre Pit's bassist, Rob Fisk, reformed as an "elastic, hyper-expressive" band to fulfill Nitre Pit's extant scheduled shows, which later became Deerhoof when Slim Moon of Kill Rock Stars signed the group in 1995. Castlepalooza
Castlepalooza was an annual Irish independent music & Arts Festival, held at Charleville Castle in Tullamore, County Offaly. The festival began in 2005 and was held annually until 2019. The 2006 festival was described by ''Hot Press'' as a "bite-sized Electric Picnic, held in the grounds of a 17th-century castle, with the added bonus of indoor toilets and showers". The festival was described by The Sunday Business Post as "The best little music festival in Ireland". Background Castlepalooza first took place in 2005 created by Katie Vance – this resulted in Castlepalooza 2006. SXSW
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year.
