Texas are a Scottish alternative rock Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. "Alternative" refers to the genre's distinction from Popular culture, mainstre ... band from Glasgow. They were founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone (formerly of the bands Altered Images and Hipsway) and Sharleen Spiteri on lead vocals. "Tired of Being Alone" is a soul song written by American singer Al Green. It reached number 11 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number seven on the Soul Singles Chart in 1971. Background Though released on the 1971 album, '' Al Green Gets Next to You'', the song was written in late 1968 and intended to be released on the 1969 album, '' Green Is Blues''. Problems occurred with the first recording, so it was postponed for production. It was altered and perfected the second time around. "Tired of Being Alone" was produced and recorded by Willie Mitchell at Hi Records and mixed by Mitchell and Terry Manning. ''Ellen'' is an American television sitcom that aired on ABC from March 29, 1994, to July 22, 1998, consisting of 109 episodes. The album peaked at number 18 in the UK and spent two weeks on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified Silver (for 60,000 copies sold) by the British Phonographic Industry in October 1997.
