Snowy Hydro SouthCare
Snowy Hydro SouthCare was a rescue and aeromedical helicopter service based in Canberra, Australia from 1998 to 2017. The area served covered the Australian Capital Territory, as well as parts of New South Wales including the South Coast (New South Wales), South Coast, Southern Tablelands, Central West (New South Wales), Central West and Riverina regions as far south as the border with Victoria (Australia), Victoria. SouthCare operated a single Bell 412 (VH-NSC) through CHC Helicopter, CHC Helicopters Australia, with medical crews provided by the Capital Region Retrieval Service, a part of the ACT Government Health Directorate. The service was backed by significant funding from Hydro-electric energy company Snowy Hydro. By the time the service ceased, SouthCare had conducted 6,963 missions. Design and development Development began in the late 1970s with two Bell 212s being converted into 412 prototypes. The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) was established in 1944 in Darling Point, inner-east Sydney. The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is an annual event hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, starting in Sydney, New South Wales, on Boxing Day and finishing in Hobart, Tasmania.
