Snow Queen Trophy
Snow Queen ( hr, Snježna kraljica) is a World Cup alpine ski race held in the hills of Zagreb, Croatia. The men's and women's slalom races take place on the Medvednica mountaintop Sljeme, just north of Zagreb, usually in early January. The women's race debuted in 2005 and the men's event was added three years later in 2008. The events are held on the red run ski track ( Crveni spust) on Medvednica, starting at an elevation of and ending at . Besides the city events in Moscow and Munich, it is the only World Cup event held near a large metropolitan area. Its current prize fund of €120,000 is one of the largest on the World Cup circuit, with a winner's share of €46,000. The race has been known to attract up to 25,000 spectators, making it one of the largest and the most visited races on the World Cup calendar. Ivica Kostelić
Ivica Kostelić (; born 23 November 1979) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Croatia. He specialized in slalom and combined, but was also one of the few alpine World Cup ski racers able to score points in all disciplines. He is the brother of skiing champion Janica Kostelić. In his career he was coached by his father Ante Kostelić, as well as by Kristian Ghedina and Tomislav Krstičević. Biography After considerable success in junior competitions, Kostelić's World Cup career alternated between triumph and injury. Julien Lizeroux
Julien Lizeroux (born 5 September 1979) is a retired French World Cup alpine ski racer. He competed mainly in slalom, but also in giant slalom and combined. Born in Moûtiers, Savoie, Lizeroux is a member of Douanes-La Plagne. He made his World Cup debut in 2000 and has three World Cup victories, all in slalom. Lizeroux won silver medals in the super combined and the slalom on home snow at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère. He finished 9th in the slalom and 18th in the super combined of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A problematic right knee hampered his performance during the first half of 2011 season, and has sidelined him since January 2011. Surgery in June 2011 caused Lizeroux to miss the 2012 season. Manfred Mölgg
Manfred Mölgg (born 3 June 1982) is an Italian former World Cup alpine ski racer. He specialized in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom. Mölgg's younger sister Manuela is also a former alpine racer with ten World Cup podiums. Biography Born in Bruneck, South Tyrol, Mölgg made his World Cup debut in January 2003 at Bormio. As of mid-January 2021, he has 20 World Cup podiums with three victories, all achieved in slalom. Giuliano Razzoli (born 18 December 1984) is a World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist from Italy. He specializes in the slalom; he won the Slalom at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Biography Born at Castelnovo ne' Monti in Reggio Emilia, Razzoli took the first place in slalom at the 2006 Italian Championships in Santa Caterina, Valfurva, which resulted in his automatic promotion to the Italian National A team. Jean-Baptiste Grange (born 10 October 1984) is a French retired World Cup alpine ski racer. He competed primarily in slalom and earlier also in giant slalom and combined. Born in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Savoie, Grange grew up in Valloire, Galibier, and made his World Cup debut at age 19 in January 2004. In February 2007, he won the bronze medal in the slalom at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, Sweden. Reinfried Herbst (born 11 October 1978 in Salzburg) is a retired slalom skier from Austria. Herbst won the silver medal for the men's slalom event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. On 11 March 2006 he won his first World Cup race in Shigakogen Slalom. He was 8th in the slalom World Cup standings after the 2006 season. In July, 2006 he injured his knee in a charity soccer game. Mario Matt (born 9 April 1979) is an Austrian former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist. Slalom racing career Born in Zams, Tyrol, Matt made his World Cup debut in December 1999. He claimed 15 World Cup victories: 14 in slalom and one super combined. Matt is also a two-time world champion in slalom, with titles in 2001 and 2007. With a remarkably long career as a top slalom racer, he is the second oldest (after André Myhrer, who won gold in 2018) to win an Olympic gold medal in slalom skiing (in Sochi at the 2014 Winter olympics) and also the second oldest (after Dave Ryding) to win a (regular) World Cup slalom race.
