Snow Ghosts
Snow Ghosts is a British musical group active since 2008. As of 2020, they have released four studio albums and four EPs. History Producer Ross Tones (aka Throwing Snow) and vocalist Hannah Cartwright (aka Augustus Ghost) first met and started collaborating in 2008, having a shared interest in British folklore and experimental electronic music. The first Snow Ghosts record, the ''Lost at Sea'' EP, was released through Black Acre Records in 2011. Following this initial release, Tones and Cartwright spent the next two years compiling their debut album, ''A Small Murmuration'', which was released on London nightclub Fabric's record label Houndstooth in 2013. In 2014, Tones and Cartwright joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Oliver Knowles, (aka The Keep), and Snow Ghosts became a trio. Houndstooth
Houndstooth, hounds tooth check or hound's tooth (and similar spellings), also known as dogstooth, dogtooth, dog's tooth, (), (), is a duotone textile pattern characterized by broken checks or abstract four-pointed shapes, traditionally in black and white or such contrasting dark and light pattern, although other colour combinations are also often applied. The classic houndstooth pattern is an example of a tessellation. A smaller-scale version of the pattern can be referred to as puppytooth. Portico (band)
Portico Quartet are an instrumental band from London, UK. They are known for their use of the Hang (instrument), hang, a modern percussion instrument. Their debut album, ''Knee-Deep in the North Sea'', was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize and was ''Time Out (magazine), Time Out’s'' Jazz, Folk and World album of the year 2007. The group consists of Duncan Bellamy (drums and electronics), Jack Wyllie (saxophones and keyboards), Milo Fitzpatrick (electric and double-bass) and Keir Vine (keyboards). Their name comes from when one of their early gigs was rained out and they ended up playing under a portico.
