Established in 1881, Sneads High School is a high school with grades 9–12. It is located in the rural countryside of Sneads, west of Tallahassee, in Jackson County, Florida. This school is administered by the Jackson County School Board and is one of 5 high schools in the county. As of 2017 Sneads High has 389 total students and a graduation rate of 78% The neighboring communities of Sneads and Grand Ridge combined their high schools and middle schools beginning with the 2006–2007 school year. Grades 9–12 at Grand Ridge were added to the Sneads High School and the 6-8 grades at Sneads High are now at Grand Ridge, Sneads retained its elementary school, as did Grand Ridge. Sneads is a town in Jackson County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. Sneads is governed by a five-member town council and a city manager. It also has an all-volunteer fire rescue department, and its own police force of eight sworn officers: six full-time officers, an Administrative Assistant, and three part-time dispatchers. The largest employer in the Sneads area is the Florida Department of Corrections, which operates Appalachee Correctional Institution, outside the city proper. Sneads was founded in 1894 and is the fourth largest municipality in Jackson County, following Marianna (the county seat), Graceville and Malone. Jackson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida, on its northwestern border with Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 47,319. Its county seat is Marianna. Miss Florida USA
The Miss Florida USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Florida in the Miss USA pageant. Up until the 2017 pageant, both Miss and Teen state pageants were held separately in different months. In recent years, the organization was decided that both pageants would compete at the same time from 2018 onwards, just like the most of state pageants in the Miss USA system. While Florida has had number of runners-up, finalists, and semi-finalists, the state has yet to win the Miss USA title. Although Cheryl Patton, who placed 2nd runner-up in Miss USA 1967, became Miss USA after Sylvia Hitchcock won Miss Universe. The most recent placement was Ashley Cariño placed 2nd runner-up in 2021.
