Smithville is a city in Lee County, Georgia, United States. The population was 575 at the 2010 census, down from 774 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Albany, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. History A post office was established at Smithville in 1871. The community was named after the local Smith family. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Smithville as a town in 1863. Geography Smithville is located in northwestern Lee County at (31.902073, -84.255336). It is bordered to the north by the Sumter County line. U.S. Route 19 runs through the west side of the city, leading south to Leesburg, the Lee county seat, and north to Americus. Smithville, Burlington County, New Jersey
Smithville was a village in Eastampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. It was originally established as Shreveville in 1831 by Jonathan and Samuel Shreve as a textile village on the Rancocas Creek. It was purchased by Hezekiah Bradley Smith in 1865 and renamed to Smithville. The Smithville post office was established in 1866. The H. B. Smith Machine Company, which produced the American Star Bicycle beginning in 1880, was located there. In 1962, the Smithville Post Office was closed. In 1975, Burlington County purchased the property and created the first park in the county. It is listed on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places as the Smithville Historic District. It is known for Gandy Warm Springs and Gandy Creek, a large spring (15-19 cfs) that comes out of the base of Spring Mountain to the west. Smithville is a city in Bastrop County, Texas, Bastrop County, Texas, United States, near the Colorado River (Texas), Colorado River. The population was 3,922 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Thomas Jefferson Gazley arrived in 1827 and set the pace of development for Smithville by building the first house and establishing the first store, which served incoming settlers. He later served in the Mexican government and helped write the Texas Declaration of Independence and the first Constitution, and became a true Texas hero. William Smith's family arrived several years after Gazley. They also owned a store and were early influences on the area, including the naming of Smithville where about seventeen families lived on the south bank of the Colorado River.
