Slow River Records
Slow River Records was a Marblehead, Massachusetts-based independent record label. History Slow River Records was established by producer and musician George Howard in 1993. He operated it along with Anna Johansson. It obtained enough income and distribution capabilities to release its first record (a 7" by Desk) from singles released by Howard's band, the Lotus Eaters, on Harriet Records. In 1995, it entered into a joint venture with Rykodisc. In 1997, it was reported that the two labels had entered into a "wide-ranging agreement" whereby Rykodisc would give money to Slow River to help distribute and market each album that Slow River released. Marblehead, Massachusetts
Marblehead is a coastal New England town in Essex County, Massachusetts, along the North Shore (Massachusetts), North Shore. Its population was 20,441 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. The town lies on a small peninsula that extends into the northern part of Massachusetts Bay. Attached to the town is a near island, known as Marblehead Neck, connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Marblehead Harbor, protected by shallow shoals and rocks from the open sea, lies between the mainland and the Neck. Lauren Hoffman
Lauren Hoffman (born 1977) is an American singer-songwriter. She released her debut album ''Megiddo'' through Virgin Records in 1997 to critical praise. In 1999 Hoffman independently issued her second LP ''From The Blue House'' and an EP, ''A Harmless Little Kiss.'' Her third album ''Choreography'' was released through French record label Fargo Records in 2006 and includes her single "Broken". She released her next album ''Interplanetary Traveler'' in 2010. Between 2015 and 2017, she performed and released music under a new moniker, The Secret Storm, during which she released two EPs and a fourth full-length album ''Family Ghost''. Sparklehorse
Sparklehorse was an American indie rock band from Richmond, Virginia, led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous. Sparklehorse was active from 1995 until Linkous' 2010 death. Prior to forming Sparklehorse, Linkous fronted local bands Johnson Family and Salt Chunk Mary. Only one song, "Someday I Will Treat You Good," survived from these earlier bands to be played by Sparklehorse. Linkous stated that he ultimately chose Sparklehorse for a name because the two words sounded good together and it could loosely be used as a metaphor for a motorcycle.
