Slow Burn (2000 Film)
''Slow Burn'' is a 2000 drama film directed by Christian Ford and starring Minnie Driver, James Spader, Stuart Wilson, and Josh Brolin. It is a very loose adaptation of the 1899 novel ''McTeague'' by Frank Norris. Plot Trina (Driver) continues a family quest to find diamonds hidden deep in the desert long after her parents death. Her search comes to fruition when two escaped convicts (Spader and Brolin), having found the diamonds, stumble onto Trina's path. An old family friend (Wilson) watches events unfold from a distance. Amelia Fiona Jessica "Minnie" Driver (born 31 January 1970) is an English actress. She rose to prominence with her break-out role in 1995's '' Circle of Friends''. Frank Norris
Benjamin Franklin Norris Jr. (March 5, 1870 – October 25, 1902) was an American journalist and novelist during the Progressive Era, whose fiction was predominantly in the naturalist genre. His notable works include '' McTeague: A Story of San Francisco'' (1899), '' The Octopus: A Story of California'' (1901) and '' The Pit'' (1903). Life Norris was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1870. His father, Benjamin, was a self-made Chicago businessman and his mother, Gertrude Glorvina Doggett, had a stage career. McTeague
''McTeague: A Story of San Francisco'', otherwise known as simply ''McTeague'', is a novel by Frank Norris, first published in 1899. It tells the story of a couple's courtship and marriage, and their subsequent descent into poverty and violence as the result of jealousy and greed. The book was the basis for the films ''McTeague'' (1916) and Erich von Stroheim's ''Greed'' (1924). It was also adapted as an opera by William Bolcom in 1992.
