Slovenská Hokejová Liga
The TIPOS Slovenská hokejová liga (TIPOS Slovak Hockey League) is a professional ice hockey league composed of twelve teams in Slovakia. It is the second highest ice hockey league in Slovakia. Game Every regular season game has three 20-minute periods, with an intermission of a maximum of 18 minutes between periods. If the game is tied following the 60-minute regulation time, a five-minute three-on-three sudden death overtime period is played. If a game still is tied after the overtime period, a shootout decides the game. In a shootout, the team that scores the most penalty shots out of five attempts wins the game. If the game is still tied after the first five penalty-shot rounds, the shootout continues round by round, until one team scores while the other team fails to score. Slovak Extraliga
The Tipos Extraliga (Slovak Extraliga) is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From the 2018–19 season to the 2020–21 season, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. In 2009, it was ranked by the IIHF as the fifth strongest league in Europe and in 2012, it was ranked by ''The Hockey News'' as the sixth-strongest league in the world behind the NHL, KHL, Swedish Hockey League, SM-liiga and Czech Extraliga. However, it has dropped significantly since then, with the American Hockey League, Swiss National League and German DEL, among others, all now ranked higher. The name of the league is leased to sponsors and changes frequently. From 1993/94 to 1997/98, it was called ''Extraliga'', then the name changed to ''West Extraliga'' until the end of the 2000/01 season. In 2001/02, its name was ''Boss Extraliga''. HK Trnava
HK Trnava is an ice hockey team based in Trnava, Slovakia. It plays in the Slovak 1. Liga, the country's second division of ice hockey. The club was founded in 1957. History Ice hockey is played in Trnava since 1923 when the first friendly game between ŠK Trnava and 1.ČsŠK Bratislava was played at the nature rink in Eagle Garden. Since 1935 Trnava played in western area with three clubs from Bratislava (Slavia, VŠ, ČsŠK) and Nitra, Nove Mesto nad Vahom, Topoľčany and other. However, the club was founded in 1957. Poprad Ice Stadium (Slovak: ''Zimný štadión mesta Poprad'') is an arena in Poprad, Slovakia. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home ice of HK Poprad (playing in the Slovak Extraliga). It has a capacity of 4,500 people and was built in 1973 and renovated in 2011. During the 2011–12 KHL season, it was also the home arena of Lev Poprad, which was playing in the Kontinental Hockey League. Poprad
Poprad (; hu, Poprád; german: Deutschendorf) is a city in northern Slovakia at the foot of the High Tatra Mountains, famous for its picturesque historic centre and as a holiday resort. The Ondrej Nepela Arena ( sk, Zimný Štadión Ondreja Nepelu) (also known as ''Orange Arena'' during the 2011 IIHF Championship, or as ''Slovnaft Arena'') is an indoor arena in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is primarily used for ice hockey and it was the home arena of the KHL's HC Slovan Bratislava. History It opened in 1940 and held 8,350 people until its full reconstruction started in 2009. The reconstructed arena opened in spring 2011 with one of the most advance game presentation, LED scoreboards and security systems ever built. It has increased capacity to 10,055 spectators. Hockey Club Slovan Bratislava ( sk, Hokejový klub Slovan Bratislava) is a professional ice hockey club based in Bratislava, Slovakia.
