Rhythmic Gymnastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, dance and calisthenics; gymnasts must be strong, flexible, agile, dexterous and coordinated. Rhythmic gymnastics is governed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), which first recognized it as a sport in 1963. It became an Olympic sport in 1984, with an individual all-around event. The group all-around competition was added to the Olympics in 1996. At the international level, rhythmic gymnastics is a women-only sport. The most prestigious competitions, besides the Olympic Games, are the World Championships, World Games, European Championships, European Games, the World Cup Series and the Grand Prix Series. Gymnasts are judged on their artistry, execution of skills, and difficulty of skills, for which they gain points. They perform leaps, balances, and rotations along with handling the apparatus. Aleksandra Podgoršek
Aleksandra Podgoršek (born 22 July 2001) is a Slovenian rhythmic gymnast. She is a three-time (2017, 2018, 2020) Slovenian National All-Around champion and a two-time (2015, 2016) Slovenian Junior National All-Around champion. Career Junior She started training rhythmic gymnastics in 2007 at the age of 6. She made her debut in National team in 2014. Podgoršek won silver medal in All-Around at the 2014 Slovenian Junior National Championships. She then competed at the 2014 Junior European Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. She placed 23rd in Team competition together with teammates Aja Jerman, Taja Karner and Iza Zorec. She became Slovenian Junior National All-around champion in 2015 and again in 2016. She was selected to represent her country at the 2016 Junior European Championships in Holon, Israel together with teammates Ana Kragulj and Lara Pikovnik. Monija Čebašek
Monija Čebašek (born 11 April 1998) is a Slovenian rhythmic gymnast. She competed at three World Championships (2013, 2014, 2015). At the 2013 World Championships where she placed 68th All-Around, 75th with Hoop (12.691), 85th with Ball (11.500), 56th with Clubs (13.641) and 56th with Ribbon (13.250). At the 2014 World Championships where she placed 71st All-Around, 69th with Hoop (13.916), 92nd with Ball (13.350) and 65th with Clubs (13.416). At the 2015 World Championships where she placed 107th All-Around, 70th with Hoop (13.908), 128th with Clubs (10.750) and 115th with Ribbon (13.050). She was named Sportswoman of the Year by the Portorož Chamber of Commerce in January 2014. In May 2015 she was announced as a recipient of the 2015 Young Hope scholarship fund. Ela Polak (born 27 November 2007) is a Slovenian rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2023 Slovenian All-Around champion and a two-time (2021, 2022) Slovenian Junior All-Around champion. Career Junior In 2020, she became National All-around champion in pre-junior category and earned a spot in junior national team. On November 26–29, she competed at the 2020 Junior European Championships, where she took 28th place in Rope, 21st place in Ball and 27th place in Clubs. She competed at the 2022 Junior European Championships and placed 17th in Team competition (out of 33 countries) together with teammates Alja Ponikvar, Asja Pučnik and Nika Zajc.
