Slouching Towards Liverpool
Slouching Towards Liverpool is an Extended play, EP that includes live performances of songs from The Loud Family's first album, ''Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things (album), Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things'', as well as some live studio tracks recorded at WNUR-FM in Evanston, Illinois. "Back of a Car" is a cover version of a song by Big Star (band), Big Star, while "Erica's Word" is a cover version of a song by the Loud Family leader Scott Miller (pop musician), Scott Miller's earlier band, Game Theory (band), Game Theory. Michael Quercio, leader of The Three O'Clock and a member of Game Theory in 1989 and 1990, plays bass guitar on "The Come On". The EP's title alludes to William Butler Yeats's poem The Second Coming (poem), The Second Coming, which ends with the lines "And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?" The Loud Family
The Loud Family was a San Francisco-based power pop band formed in 1991 by songwriter and guitarist Scott Miller, who previously led the 1980s band Game Theory. The Loud Family released six studio LPs and one live LP from 1991 through 2006. After Miller's death in 2013, three Loud Family members participated in recording sessions for ''Supercalifragile'' (2017), Miller's posthumous Game Theory album. Background Scott Miller, founder of the group, was a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Prior to forming the Loud Family, he was best known as the leader of the band Game Theory. Miller and his bands were often described as cult favorites, finding critical acclaim but little commercial success. In 1977, Miller formed Alternate Learning (also known as ALRN), his first band to release commercial recordings, along with future Loud Family bandmate Jozef Becker. Michael Quercio
Michael Quercio (born March 13, 1963) is an American musician. He is the founder, bassist and lead singer of The Three O'Clock, and coined the term Paisley Underground as the name of a musical subgenre. Paisley Underground Quercio is best known as the founding member, lead vocalist, and principal songwriter of The Three O'Clock, among the most successful artists of the neo-psychedelic movement of 1980s rock music that became known as the Paisley Underground. Quercio coined the name Paisley Underground for his musical subgenre in late 1982, during an interview with the ''LA Weekly'' alternative newspaper. As the event was later reported: Quercio was close friends with Lina Sedillo who was the bass player with local punk band Peer Group, who had played on the same bill as The Salvation Army on occasion.
