Slim Thug
Stayve Jerome Thomas (born September 8, 1980), better known by his stage name Slim Thug, is an American rapper. He initially gained mainstream attention for his contribution to the hit single by rapper Mike Jones, " Still Tippin'". In July 2005, he released his debut album '' Already Platinum'', which reached number two on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. That same year, he was featured on the Beyoncé '' Pink Panther'' song " Check on It", which reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and won the MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video. Early life At age 17, he performed freestyle raps at local high school parties. He began his rap career with Swishahouse in the late 1990s. Paul Wall
Paul Michael Slayton (born March 11, 1981), better known by his stage name Paul Wall, is an American rapper and DJ. He has spent much of his career affiliated with Swishahouse Records, and has released several albums under the label and collaborated with numerous other rappers signed to the label. He began his career performing alongside fellow Houstonian Chamillionaire, with whom he released several albums, including 2002's independently released '' Get Ya Mind Correct''. In 2005, he was signed to Atlantic Records and became successful with his major label debut ''The Peoples Champ'', which was followed up by '' Get Money, Stay True'' followed in 2007. Mixtapes
A mixtape (alternatively mix-tape, mix tape or mixed tape) is a compilation of music, typically from multiple sources, recorded onto a medium. With origins in the 1980s, the term normally describes a homemade compilation of music onto a cassette tape, CD, or digital playlist. The songs are either ordered sequentially or made into a continuous programme by beatmatching the songs and creating seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits. Essayist Geoffrey O'Brien described this definition of the mixtape as "perhaps the most widely practiced American art form". MTV Video Music Award For Best R&B Video
The MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B was first awarded in 1993 under the name of Best R&B Video, and it was given every year until 2006, as the following year MTV revamped the VMAs and eliminated all the genre categories. The following year, though, when MTV returned the Video Music Awards to their previous format, Best R&B Video did not return despite four other genre awards doing so. It was only in 2019 that the R&B award returned to the VMAs, now under the shorter name of Best R&B. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. "Check on It" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé. It was written by her, Swizz Beatz, Sean Garrett, Angela Beyincé and Slim Thug, and produced by Swizz Beatz. Initially recorded solely by Beyoncé, the song was supposed to be featured on the soundtrack for 2006 film ''The Pink Panther'', in which she co-starred as Xania. ''The Pink Panther'' is an American media franchise primarily focusing on a series of comedy-mystery films featuring an inept French police detective, Inspector Jacques Clouseau. ''Already Platinum'' is the debut album by American rapper Slim Thug. The album was released on July 12, 2005 on Pharrell and Chad Hugo's Star Trak label. The original release date was slated for February 2005, but heavy bootlegging and numerous delays held the album back, forcing a vast majority of its original track listing to be replaced. The original track listing included the original version of the track "I Ain't Heard of That," which featured Jay-Z. In an interview with '' XXL'', the rapper explained the album title does not suggest he will go platinum, but that his lifestyle (before he got a record deal) was already similar to that of rappers who had reached the platinum status. In an interview on ''The Tyra Banks Show'', mentor Pharrell revealed that he was a millionaire before the two met, and he especially liked that about him. Still Tippin'
"Still Tippin" is a song by American rapper Mike Jones, released on November 12, 2004 as his debut and lead single from his album ''Who Is Mike Jones?'' (2005). Prior to this, it was also used as a single to promote Swisha House's compilation album, '' The Day Hell Broke Loose 2'' (2003). The song features vocals from rappers Slim Thug and Paul Wall, the latter in his first single appearance. The beat was produced by Salih Williams, featuring a hypnotic refrain from a Swishahouse song of Slim Thug from years past. In an interview with MTV, Jones stated that the "tippin'" of the title is a synonym for " cruising" (i.e. driving). He also added that "tippin' on four 4s, wrapped in four Vogues" refers to rims with "the spokes that you see sticking out" wrapped in Vogue tires, which he explains "were made in 1984 by Cadillac and those were the most popular ones at the time". Rapper
Rapping (also rhyming, spitting, emceeing or MCing) is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates "rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular".
