Slim's Last Trick
Slim's was a nightclub and music venue in San Francisco, California, which was opened by Boz Scaggs in 1988. Scaggs and his partners took over a vacant restaurant which was called the Warehouse and threw a party there on December 31, 1987, to celebrate before closing it to remodel, and the new venue opened on September 16, 1988. The club closed permanently on March 18, 2020. History The opening acts at Slim's on September 16, 1988 were Katie Webster, Anson Funderburgh, Delbert McClinton, and 'Presidio Slim' (a.k.a. Citizen is an American rock band from Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio that formed in 2009. The band consists of three core members: Mat Kerekes (vocals) and brothers Nick Hamm (lead guitar), & Eric Hamm (bass). Delbert McClinton (born November 4, 1940) is an American blues rock and electric blues singer-songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and pianist. From his first professional stage appearance in 1957 to his most recent national tour in 2018, he has recorded albums for several major record labels and singles that have reached the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100, Mainstream Rock Tracks, and Hot Country Songs charts. Great American Music Hall
The Great American Music Hall is a concert hall in San Francisco, California. It is located on O'Farrell Street in the Tenderloin neighborhood on the same block as the Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre. It is known for its decorative balconies, columns, and frescoes and for its history of unique entertainment, which has included burlesque dancing as well as jazz, folk music, and rock and roll concerts. Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir
The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir (OIGC) is located in Oakland, California, US. It was founded in 1986 as an outgrowth of a gospel music workshop, and became an independent organization in 1991. The choir has since toured globally, produced multiple CDs and appeared in films and on television. The choir's repertoire is diverse, and OIGC has collaborated with a variety of pop artists from different genres, including gospel, jazz, and hip-hop. Founded in 1986, the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir was born out of a gospel music workshop led by Terrance Kelly at Living Jazz’s Jazz Camp West. Anson Funderburgh (born James Anson Funderburgh; November 14, 1954) is an American blues guitar player and bandleader of Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets since 1978. Their style incorporates both Chicago blues and Texas blues. Career Funderburgh was born in Plano, Texas, United States. Anson was with The Bee's Knees in 1976 and recorded "Cold Hearted Woman". In 1977 the Rockets began with Anson, Mark Hickman on Fender bass, David Watson on drums and vocalist Darrell Nulisch. Katie Webster (January 11, 1936 – September 5, 1999), born Kathryn Jewel Thorne, was an American boogie-woogie pianist. Career Webster was initially best known as a session musician behind Louisiana musicians on the Excello and Goldband record labels, such as Lightnin' Slim and Lonesome Sundown. She also played piano with Otis Redding in the 1960s, but after his death went into semi-retirement. In the 1980s she was repeatedly booked for European tours and recorded albums for the German record label, Ornament Records, with Gary Wiggins and Chris Rannenberg - ''The International Blues Duo''.
