Sligo Senior Football Championship
The Sligo Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Sligo clubs. The winners of the Sligo Senior Championship qualify to represent the county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Tubbercurry Tubbercurry or Tobercurry () is the second-largest town in terms of both population and land area in County Sligo, Ireland. It lies at the foot of the Ox Mountains, on the N17 national primary road. 2009 Sligo Senior Football Championship
This is a round-up of the 2009 Sligo Senior Football Championship to date. Tourlestrane were crowned champions on 4 October after beating the then current winners Eastern Harps Group Stages The Championship was contested by 14 teams, divided into four groups. Two with three teams and two with four teams. The top two sides in each group advanced to the Quarter-Finals, with the bottom sides in each group facing the Relegation group stages to retain Senior status for 2010, as the restructuring of the Championships went through its final stages. Hunt Cup following a comfortable win over Tubbercurry in the latter's last final appearance to date. Other notable points from the Championship included the surprise exit of holders Tourlestrane, after a heavy defeat to unfancied Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, and the relegation of St. Patrick's, Dromard, after a long and successful spell at Senior level lasting some three decades, and seven titles. This is a round-up of the 1975 Sligo Senior Football Championship. Eastern Harps claimed their first title in only their third year in existence, after defeating Craobh Rua in the final. This was the last hurrah for Craobh Rua - they would later join forces with Muire Naofa to form the St. Mary's club for the following year. St. Mary's won their eighth title in eleven attempts, after defeating holders Tubbercurry in the fifth successive final between the sides. 1985 Sligo Senior Football Championship
This is a round-up of the 1985 Sligo Senior Football Championship. St. Mary's completed their second hat-trick of titles in a seven-year period in this year, and once again Tubbercurry were the beaten finalists. This year's final was unique, as it required three games to decide the issue, and the latter game proved to be a bad-tempered affair, with four Tubbercurry players sent off in the closing minutes. This year's Championship also saw the entry of numerous amalgamations, as the Championship was opened up to Intermediate and Junior clubs to enter their combined resources, but this couldn't prevent a repeat of the outcome of previous years. 1983 Sligo Senior Football Championship
This is a round-up of the 1983 Sligo Senior Football Championship. St. Mary's were champions again, regaining the title they had lost to Tourlestrane the previous year. Any hopes of the Sligo town club being kept off the top spot were dashed after they gained an emphatic revenge on holders Tourlestrane in the opening round, and enjoyed a comfortable win over Tubbercurry in the final. This was the first of five successive final meetings between the two clubs.
