Sleepy Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map accessed August 15, 2011 tributary of the Potomac River in the United States, belonging to the Chesapeake Bay's watershed. The stream rises in Frederick County, Virginia, and flows through Morgan County, West Virginia before joining the Potomac near the community of Sleepy Creek. While Sleepy Creek Lake is a part of the Sleepy Creek watershed, it is an impoundment of its tributary, Meadow Branch, in Berkeley County, West Virginia and not of Sleepy Creek itself. Course Sleepy Creek's source lies north of State Route 127 in Frederick County, Virginia, near the Hampshire County, West Virginia border at Good. From Frederick County, Sleepy Creek flows north through Morgan County, West Virginia, where it drains into the Potomac at the community of Sleepy Creek on the old Baltimore & Ohio Railroad mainline. Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area
Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in Morgan County, West Virginia, Morgan and Berkeley County, West Virginia, Berkeley Counties in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. It encompasses , mostly covered with mixed oak and pine forest, although about are covered with mixed hardwoods. The Sleepy Creek Lake is located entirely within the WMA. Location To access Sleepy Creek WMA from Berkeley Springs, follow U.S. Route 522 south to Winchester Grade Road and follow Winchester Grade Road to Shanghai Road. Follow east on Shanghai Road into the WMA. From Martinsburg, follow WV Route 9 about west to Back Creek Valley Road. West Virginia Route 9 (WV 9) is a major east–west state highway located in the eastern extents of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. The western terminus of the route is at the Maryland state line north of Paw Paw, where WV 9 becomes Maryland Route 51 (MD 51) upon crossing the Potomac River. The eastern terminus is at the Virginia state line at Keyes Gap near Mannings, West Virginia, where WV 9 continues onward as Virginia State Route 9 (SR 9). With no east–west US Highway in the region, WV 9 acts as the major east–west transportation artery between Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson counties.
