Sleeps With Angels
''Sleeps with Angels'' is the 20th studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released on August 16, 1994, on Reprise as a double LP and as a single CD. Co-produced by David Briggs, the album is Young's seventh with Crazy Horse. Background and recording The album was conceived as a conscious attempt to recapture some of the atmospheric experiments Young and Crazy Horse played around with in the ''After the Gold Rush'' era. Although the majority of the album was recorded before the fact, Young created the title track after the suicide of Kurt Cobain, who quoted him in his suicide note. Two songs ("Western Hero" and "Train of Love") feature the same music with differing lyrics. "Safeway Cart" is featured on the soundtrack during a marching sequence in Claire Denis's 1999 film ''Beau Travail''. ''Sleeps with Angels'' is the only Neil Young album on which he plays the flute. Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. After embarking on a music career in Winnipeg in the 1960s, Young moved to Los Angeles, joining Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and others. John Hanlon is an American record producer and recording engineer. Career He is best known for producing, engineering, and mixing albums for Neil Young, Stephen Stills, T-Bone Burnett, R.E.M, Gillian Welch, Dennis Wilson, and The Beach Boys. Work with Neil Young His relationship with Neil Young started in 1983, when he and David Briggs, Young's longtime producer, were working on ''Trans'' remixes. Marimba
The marimba () is a musical instrument in the percussion family that consists of wooden bars that are struck by mallets. Below each bar is a resonator pipe that amplifies particular harmonics of its sound. Compared to the xylophone, the timbre of the marimba is warmer, deeper, more resonant, and more pure. Billy Talbot
William Hammond Talbot (born October 23, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the bassist of Crazy Horse. Music career Born in New York City, Talbot started his musical career singing on street corners at the age of 14. He moved to New Jersey with his family the next year, and by 17 he had moved to Los Angeles. There, he befriended fellow expatriate New Yorker Ralph Molina, Danny Whitten and Benjamin Rocco. Together they formed a doo-wop group called Danny and the Memories. After moving the group to San Francisco, they morphed into The Psyrcle, which eventually grew to encompass Leon and George Whitsell along with Bobby Notkoff. At this point, Talbot and his bandmates renamed the group The Rockets. In 1967, the group met Neil Young, who at the time was a member of Buffalo Springfield.
