Sleeper (Marvel Comics)
The Sleepers is the name of several fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Sleepers are depicted as five destructive robots created by the Red Skull. Fictional character biography The Sleepers were five doomsday robots designed in Berlin by Nazi Germany as agents of destruction. After World War II, the Fourth Sleeper was entombed within a crypt that was sunk into the sea. The first three robots were activated by agents at a certain time in European villages, consisting of a giant human-like robot with blaster rays, a winged robot, and the 'brain', which resembled the Red Skull and was a powerful bomb. Despite Captain America and the personnel of a nearby U.S. Army base's attempts to stop them, the robots combined and flew towards the North Pole. Sleeper (band)
Sleeper are an English rock band formed in London in 1992. The group had eight UK Top 40 hit singles and three UK Top 10 albums during the 1990s. Their music was also featured in the soundtrack of the pop cultural hit movie '' Trainspotting''. The band split up in 1998, but reunited in 2017. ''Sleeper'' is the sixth studio album by American indie rock musician Ty Segall, released on August 20, 2013, on Drag City. Recorded between January and March 2013, the album features primarily acoustic psychedelic folk compositions, and is influenced by the death of Segall's father and his subsequent estrangement from his mother. Upon the album's release, Segall noted, "I was not in a good spot. I had been through some rough stuff, like my dad passed away, and was going through some relationship issues, too. "The Sleepers" is a poem by Walt Whitman. The poem was first published in the first edition of ''Leaves of Grass'' (1855), but was re-titled and heavily revised several times throughout Whitman's life. Background The American poet Walt Whitman first published the poetry anthology ''Leaves of Grass'' in 1855. He continued to expand, revise, and rewrite poems in the collection until his death in 1892. The Academy of American Poets deemed the collection "possibly the greatest book of American poetry ever written." According to the poet J. D.
