Slavko Vraneš
Slavko Vraneš ( cg, Славко Вранеш, ; born 30 January 1983) is a Montenegrin former professional basketball player. He also represented the Montenegrin national basketball team in the international competitions. Standing at , he was one of the tallest players in the world. Professional career Vraneš started playing basketball in the Serbian club FMP Železnik. Still a junior, he was snapped up by the Turkish club Efes Pilsen for the 2000–01 season. Then he returned to his native country in January 2001, where he played for Budućnost Podgorica until the summer of 2003. Vraneš was selected by the National Basketball Association's New York Knicks in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He was waived by the Knicks in December 2003 before ever playing a game for them. In early January 2004, he signed a ten-day contract with Portland Trail Blazers. Milko Bjelica ( sr-cyr, Милко Бјелица; born June 4, 1984) is a Serbian-born Montenegrin professional basketball player for Al-Ittihad Jeddah of the Saudi Premier League. Professional career He began his professional career with Crvena zvezda, where he spent five seasons. He then played in Germany with Phantoms Braunschweig and Köln 99ers. In 2008 he signed with Lietuvos rytas, and made his EuroLeague debut during the 2009–10 season. In July 2011 he signed a two-year deal with Saski Baskonia. ABA League
The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia). Due to sponsorship reasons, the league was also known as the Goodyear League from 2001 to 2006, the NLB League from 2006 to 2011, and as the AdmiralBet ABA League from 2021. The 2003 NBA draft was held on June 26, 2003, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The NBA announced that 41 college and high school players and a record 31 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the 2003 NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a 22.50 percent probability of obtaining the first selection, won the NBA draft lottery on May 22, and Cleveland chairman Gordon Gund said afterward his team would select LeBron James. The Montenegro men's national basketball team ( cnr, Кошаркашка репрезентација Црне Горе, Košarkaška reprezentacija Crne Gore) represents Montenegro in international basketball tournaments. The Montenegrin Basketball Cup is an annual cup competition for Montenegrin basketball teams held since 2007. History Montenegrin clubs in Yugoslav Cup Before the Montenegrin independence in 2006, clubs from Montenegro played in national Cup of Yugoslavia.
