Slau
Slau (also known as Slavko Halatyn and Jerry Halatyn) is an American singer/songwriter and producer of Ukrainian descent living in New York City. He is best known in the podcasting and podsafe music world for producing the Podsafe for Peace holiday anthem "If Every Day Were Christmas". In the mid-1980s, Halatyn partnered with Darka Konopada to form Darka and Slavko and became one of the most popular duos in Ukrainian diaspora and Ukraine. Their partnership began a ten-year musical collaboration as well as an eight-year marriage. On June 20, 2014, Halatyn debuted as the lead singer of The Blue Turtles, a Sting tribute band, at the Ice House in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Podsafe for Peace In 2005, Slau produced and co-wrote a version of "If Every Day Were Christmas," a holiday song which fell into the hands of podcasting legend Adam Curry. George Joseph Hrab is a drummer, guitarist, composer and podcaster known for performing rock, funk and jazz and for exploring atheist, skeptic and science themes in his work. Darka & Slavko (in Ukrainian ''Дарка й Славко'') was a popular musical duo of two first generation Ukrainians: Darka Konopada & Slavko Halatyn met in the mid-80's through their involvement with a Ukrainian college group's poetry reading for political prisoners. Here began a ten-year musical collaboration as well as an eight-year marriage. The duo lived in and worked out of the New York City area. Under the name "Darka & Slavko" the duo released four albums and produced many projects for other musicians. Initially they focused attention on creating a sound that was comprehensive for Ukrainian Americans who, until then, considered Ukrainian music existing only for the older generation. Podsafe Music Network
Podsafe Music Network (PMN) was the primary archive of podsafe music (music available for use in podcasting without significant licensing difficulties) on the internet. It was established by Mevio, a podcast production company founded by Adam Curry and Ron Bloom, in the summer of 2005. The network's website provided tools for musicians and for podcasters, and also made streamed music available to the casual listener. The network was built by Chris Rockwell Breshears of the podcast ''The Daily Download'' and designed by Sue Fleming with the help of C.C. Chapman. The network and Mevio sought to promote the work of artists, independent and signed alike, who embraced the podcasting idea and made their work available for broadcast and promotion by podcasters.
