Slangerup
Slangerup is a town in Frederikssund Municipality, about 30 km north-west of central Copenhagen, in the Region Hovedstaden, Capital Region of Denmark. The town of Slangerup The town was established by the Viking Slangir at the time of Harold I of Denmark, Harald Bluetooth. King Eric I of Denmark (ca. 1070-July 1103), was born in Slangerup. In the 13th century the town was the scene of activities involving both Absalon, Bishop Absalon and Valdemar I of Denmark, Valdemar the Great. Thomas Kingo grew up and was priest in the town during the 17th century. The municipality of Slangerup Until 1 January 2007, Slangerup was also a municipality covering an area of 46 km² with a total population of 9,237 (2005). Eric I Of Denmark
Eric I ( – 10 July 1103), also known as Eric the Good ( da, Erik Ejegod), was King of Denmark following his brother Olaf I Hunger in 1095. He was a son of Sweyn II. His mother's identity is unknown. He married Boedil Thurgotsdatter. Biography Eric was born in the town of Slangerup in North Zealand - the largest Danish island. During the rule of his half-brother Canute IV he was an eager supporter of the king, but he was spared during the rebellion against Canute. Eric remained at the royal farm instead of accompanying Canute to St Albans priory in Odense, where Canute was killed. Eric talked his way off the farm and fled to Zealand and then to Scania, which was part of Denmark at the time. Olaf I Hunger was elected King of Denmark, but his reign was short. Frederikssund Municipality
Frederikssund Kommune () is a municipality ( da, kommune) on the shores of Roskilde Fjord in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. On 1 January 2007, the municipality was enlarged to include the old Jægerspris, Slangerup, and Skibby municipalities. It now covers an area of 250 km² and has a population of 44,401 (1 January 2014). As of 1 January 2014 its mayor is John Schmidt Andersen, a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. Frederikssund municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden (''Capital Region''). Peter Beier Chokolade, usually referred to as Peter Beier, is a Danish premium chocolate manufacturing and retailing company founded by Linda and Peter Beier in 1996. It is based at the Ørsholt estate outside Helsingør. History Peter Beier was born in Slangerup in 1965. He was educated as a pastry chef in Stubbekøbing on the island of Falster in 1985 and headed Magasin du Nord's chokolaterie from 1987. Linda Beier has a law degree from University of Copenhagen. They founded Peter Beier Chokolade in 1996. The first Peter Beier chocolate store opened in Copenhagen in 2000 and the first combined café and chocolate store opened on Falkoner Allé in Frederiksberg in 2002. Jesper Hansen (footballer, Born 1985)
Jesper Hansen (born 31 March 1985) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for AGF. He accumulated 18 youth caps for Denmark at six different age groups. Early life Hansen played for Ølstykke FC during his youth career, before moving onto Farum BK in 2000. Senior career F.C. Nordsjælland Having shown potential to be a promising goalkeeper, Hansen was promoted to the Farum BK first team in January 2003 and signed his first contract extension in May 2003. Having yet to make his debut for the first team, Hansen went on loan to Ølstykke FC in December 2004, the team he previously played for at youth level. He extended his stay at Ølstykke for an additional six months, where he was first choice goalkeeper for the team who were struggling to avoid regulation in the Danish 1st Division. Jesper Hoffmeyer (21 February 1942 – 25 September 2019) was a professor at the University of Copenhagen Institute of Biology, and a leading figure in the emerging field of biosemiotics. Thomas Kingo
Thomas Hansen Kingo (15 December 1634 – 14 October 1703 Odense) was a Danish bishop, poet and hymn-writer born at Slangerup, near Copenhagen. His work marked the high point of Danish baroque poetry. His father was a weaver of modest means; the name ''Kingo'' is a shortening of the Scottish name "Kinghorn". In his youth, Kingo wrote a series of poems picturing humorous scenes in village life and a pastoral love poem, ''Chrysillis''. He studied theology at the University of Copenhagen, graduating in 1654, and for some time acted as private tutor. In 1661 he was appointed vicar to the pastor at Kirke Helsinge, and in 1668 he was ordained a minister at his native town, where his poetic activity began. Valdemar I (14 January 1131 – 12 May 1182), also known as Valdemar the Great ( da, Valdemar den Store), was King of Denmark from 1154 until his death in 1182. Lyngby Boldklub () is a Danish professional football club founded in 1921. It is based at Lyngby Stadion in Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, a northern suburb of Copenhagen. From 1994 to 2001 the club was known as Lyngby FC. The club has won the Danish championship twice (1983 and 1992) and the Danish Cup three times (1984, 1985 and 1990).
