Slam City Jam
Slam City Jam, the North American Skateboard Championships, is the longest-running skateboarding event in North America and is among the best in the world. It debuted in Vancouver in 1994. The three-day event captures the vibrant music and lifestyle of skate culture and features pre-eminent athletes and musicians. The Pacific Coliseum on the Pacific National Exhibition fairgrounds is throwing open its doors to welcome back the three-day festival of skateboarding, lifestyle and music. It has appeared as a playable level in the video games ''Tony Hawk's Underground'' and '' Grind Session''. In 2006 Slam City Jam took place in Calgary, Alberta instead of Vancouver because the Pacific Coliseum was being renovated for the 2010 Winter Olympics. In Calgary the event was held in the Stampede Corral. Slam City Jam has been postponed until 2010. Tony Hawk's Underground
''Tony Hawk's Underground'' is a skateboarding video game and the fifth entry in the ''Tony Hawk's'' series after '' Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4''. It was developed by Neversoft and published by Activision in 2003 for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance. In 2004, it was published for Microsoft Windows in Australia and New Zealand as a budget release. ''Underground'' is built upon the skateboarding formula of previous ''Tony Hawk's'' games: the player explores levels and completes goals while performing tricks. The game features a new focus on customization; the player, instead of selecting a professional skater, creates a custom character. ''Underground'' adds the ability for players to dismount their boards and explore on foot. Chris Senn (skateboarder)
Chris Senn (born December 11, 1972 in Costa Mesa, California, grew up in Grass Valley, California) is a professional skateboarder, known for his aggressive and spontaneous style. Current and past sponsors include Powell Skateboards Channel one Adrenalin Skateboards Blood Wizard Emerica, Ace, Type-S, Paradox, Kamanu Charters and Toy Machine Skateboards. Notable accomplishments include three X-Games gold medals being ranked 2nd in the World in 2002 behind Rodil de Araujo, Jr, being voted Thrasher Skateboard Magazine Skater Of the Year in 1995 and being a two-time world champion. Amy Caron (born November 2, 1984) is a professional skateboarder living in Long Beach, California. Skateboarding Caron is at the forefront of a small group of professional female skaters. She began skateboarding at the age of 12, and is currently sponsored by Meow Skateboards. Caron has stood on the X Games podium in the bronze-medal position three times—2003 in Park and 2007 and 2008 in Street. Vanessa Torres (born July 17, 1986, in Anaheim, California) is a professional skateboarder. She is sponsored by Meow Skateboards and is the first woman to win X Games gold. In 2003 the X Games first featured female skateboarding competitions; Torres placed first, winning gold, in the street event (then called Park). Torres won silver in the X Games Street Competition in 2004 and placed in the top ten in 2005-2011 and 2014. In 2015 at the X Games in Austin and 2016 at the X Games in Oslo, Torres won bronze. Elissa Steamer (born July 31, 1975) is an American professional skateboarder. Early life Steamer was born in Fort Myers, Florida, United States, and began skateboarding in 1989. Steamer frequented a small city owned skate park on Grand Avenue. Cara-Beth Burnside, nicknamed "CB" (born July 23, 1971 in Orange, California, United States), is a professional skateboarder and snowboarder and ranks amongst the top female athletes in these sports in the world. Paul Martin Rodriguez Jr. (born December 31, 1984), also known by his nickname P-Rod, is an American professional street skateboarder, actor, rapper, and recording artist. Rodriguez has won a total of eight medals at the X Games, four of them gold, with the most recent first-place victory occurring in Los Angeles, California in July 2012.
