Skyvatn is a lake in the northern part of the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. The lake is located south of the lake Holmavatnet and northwest of the lake Hartevatnet. The village of Hovden in Bykle is the nearest village, located about southeast of the lake. The lake has an area of and is located in the Setesdalsheiene mountains at an elevation of above sea level. The mountains of Storhellernuten, Skyvassnuten, and Sveigen are all located to the northwest, west, and southwest, respectively. Bykle
Bykle is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Setesdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Bykle. Other villages in Bykle municipality include Berdalen, Bjåen, Breive, Hoslemo, Hovden, and Nordbygdi. Bykle was established as a municipality on 1 January 1902 when it was separated from the municipality of Valle. The municipality is the 60th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Bykle is the 337th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 935. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 3.6% over the previous 10-year period. Holmavatnet (Vinje)
Holmavatnet is a lake the Setesdalsheiene mountains of Southern Norway. It is located on the border of the municipalities of Suldal (in Rogaland county), Vinje (in Vestfold og Telemark county), and a small part in Bykle (in Agder county). The southeastern corner of the lake is in Bykle, and it is the northernmost part of all of Aust-Agder county. The lake Skyvatn is located about to the south of the lake. The lake lies in a very isolated area with road access only from the village of Nesflaten in Suldal, about to the southwest. The other villages that are located near the lake are Hovden in Bykle, about to the southeast, Håra in Odda, Hordaland, about to the northwest, and Edland in Vinje, about to the northeast. Hartevatnet
Hartevatnet or Hartevatn is a lake in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. It is located along the river Otra, on the south side of the village of Hovden. The lake is a good fishing spot and contains many brown trout. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs along the eastern shore of the lake. The lake Skyvatn lies about to the northwest and the lake Holmavatnet lies about to the northwest. The lake is a man-made reservoir. It was formed by the building of a hydro-electric dam on the river Otra. It is also connected to the nearby lake Breivevatnet by a canal. Hovden, Aust-Agder
Hovden is a village in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the northern part of Setesdalen valley, on the Norwegian National Road 9 and the river Otra, on the eastern shore of the lake Hartevatnet. Storheddernuten or Storhidlernuten (historic: ''Storhellernuten'') is a mountain on the border of Agder and Rogaland counties in southern Norway. The tall mountain has a topographic prominence of . Agder
Agder is a county (''fylke'') and traditional region in the southern part of Norway. The county was established on 1 January 2020, when the old Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder counties were merged. Since the early 1900s, the term Sørlandet ("south country, south land, southland") has been commonly used for this region, sometimes with the inclusion of neighbouring Rogaland. Before that time, the area was considered a part of Western Norway. The area was a medieval petty kingdom, and after Norway's unification became known as ''Egdafylki'' and later ''Agdesiden'', a county within the kingdom of Norway. The name Agder was not used after 1662, when the area was split into smaller governmental units called Nedenæs, Råbyggelaget, Lister, and Mandal.
