James Skyrme
James Skyrme (died 1722, last name occasionally Skyrm) was a Welsh pirate best known for Captaining two of Bartholomew Roberts’ prize ships. History In the summer of 1720 James Skyrme sailed from Bristol as first mate of ''Greyhound''. That October off St. Lucia Bartholomew Roberts took over a dozen vessels, ''Greyhound'' included. Captured, Skyrme signed their Articles and joined Roberts’ crew while Roberts burned ''Greyhound''. Two French ships attacked Roberts in April 1721, but were themselves captured by the pirates. Renaming the vessels, Roberts gave command of ''Ranger'' to Thomas Sutton and gave Skyrme ''Little Ranger'', which Roberts used as a storeship. Sailing alongside Roberts, they captured a number of other ships and their crews. Later that year Roberts put into Cape Lopez to careen, replacing Sutton with Skyrme as captain of ''Ranger''. Richard Skyrme
Richard Philip Skyrme (born 23 December 1960) is a former English cricketer. Skyrme was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born in Hereford, Herefordshire. Having played for Herefordshire before their admission to Minor counties cricket since 1983, Skyrme later made his debut for the county in their first Minor Counties Championship match against Wales Minor Counties in 1992. From 1992 to 1998, he represented the county in 30 Championship matches, the last of which came against Oxfordshire. His MCCA Knockout Trophy debut for the county came against Shropshire in 1992. From 1992 to 1997, he represented the county in 12 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Shropshire. He also represented Herefordshire in two List A matches against Durham in the 1995 NatWest Trophy and Somerset in the 1997 NatWest Trophy. Thomas Skyrme
Lieutenant Colonel Sir William Thomas Charles Skyrme (20 March 1913 – 24 January 2002) was a British civil servant, army officer, and magistrate. He served as Secretary of Commissions in the Lord Chancellor's Office for three decades. Education and early life Thomas Skyrme was born in Upper Norwood, London, to British and American parents. He was educated at Rugby School, New College, Oxford, and the Inner Temple. Career During the Second World War, Skyrme served in the Royal Artillery in the Middle East, North Africa, and Italy. He was wounded twice and was invalided out of the army with the rank of major in 1944. After the war, he founded and commanded G Locating Battery of the Honourable Artillery Company. In 1948, he was put in charge of the magistracy as Secretary of Commissions in the Lord Chancellor's Office.
