Skylab (band)
Skylab is an English/Japanese electronic group formed in 1993 by Howie B, Mat Ducasse, Masayuki Kudo, and Toshio Nakanishi. They have released two full-length albums as well as several EPs and singles. In 2015, ''Fact Magazine'' ranked their second album at #17 on its list of "The 50 Best Trip-Hop Albums of All Time".) Kudo and Nakanishi (also known as Tosh & K.U.D.O.) had previously collaborated as members of Japanese groups such as Melon and Major Force, while Howie B had been engineering and mixing for Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soul II Soul, and Massive Attack. Vocalist Debbie Sanders, formerly of Chapter & the Verse, first appeared on the band's debut album and was later made an official member of the group. Baxter (electronica Band)
Baxter is a Swedish electronica band composed of two drum and bass producers and an emotive vocalist. The band set out to transform pop music by introducing melody, vocals and strong song-writing to a layered drum and bass/jungle-influenced rhythm. Formation In 1996, Ricky Tillblad, one of the Swedish recording industry's pre-eminent designers, dub/reggae aficionado, and the man behind the Stockholm dub club, DubDeck, met Nino Ramsby, former guitarist and lead singer in the band Salt. At the time, Nino was looking for design and graphic arts work to finance his musical interests. He began working at Ricky's design firm, F+. Zap Mama
Zap Mama is the music act of Belgian artist Marie Daulne. Zap Mama sings polyphonic and afro-pop music, a harmonic music with a mixture of infused African vocal techniques, urban, hip hop with emphasis on voice. The worldwide success of Zap Mama, and an ensemble of female polyphonic singers, inspired influences in American hip hop, nu-soul, jazz and elements of pop. David Holmes (musician)
David Holmes (born 25 February 1969) is a Northern Irish musician and composer. He worked as a DJ before releasing several solo albums that have incorporated elements of trip hop, big beat, electronic and rock. In the late 1990s, he also began composing film scores, establishing a long-standing collaboration with director Steven Soderbergh that includes ''Out of Sight'' (1998) and the ''Ocean's'' trilogy. Holmes is currently a member of the band Unloved, whose music has been used extensively in the television series ''Killing Eve'', for which Holmes is also a composer. He has remixed songs for numerous artists and produced albums for Primal Scream. Career Holmes began DJing in Belfast from the age of 15. Shakespears Sister is an alternative pop and rock musical duo based in the United Kingdom that was formed in 1988 by singer-songwriter Siobhan Fahey, a former member of Bananarama. Shakespears Sister was initially a solo act, but became a duo by 1989 with the addition of American musician Marcella Detroit. Together they released two top 10 albums and a string of top 40 hits, including the 1992 hit "Stay" which peaked at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for eight consecutive weeks. Silver Apples
Silver Apples were an American electronic rock group from New York, active between 1967 and 1970, before reforming in the mid-1990s. It was composed of Simeon (born Simeon Oliver Coxe III, June 4, 1938 – September 8, 2020), who performed on a primitive synthesizer of his own devising; and, until his death in 2005, drummer Danny Taylor. The duo were among the first to employ electronic music techniques outside of academia, applying them to 1960s rock and pop styles. As part of New York's underground music scene, the band released two albums—''Silver Apples'' (1968) and ''Contact'' (1969)—to poor sales.
