Skycamefalling are an American metalcore band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 1996, the band released three EPs and one full-length album from 1996 to 2003. After going through several lineup changes (mainly several drummers and bassists), the band eventually split up in 2003. After a seven-year break, four of the five founding members reformed the band in 2010. History Skycamefalling formed in 1996 and self-released a four-song demo cassette entitled ''A Penny for Your Confessions''. The demo went on to sell over a thousand copies and the band was contacted by Belgian record label Good Life Recordings, whom the band had sent a demo tape addressed to the owner Edward Verhaeghe. Early influences include Converge, Cave In, Glassjaw, and Pantera. The band entered Brass Giraffe studios in New York City in May 1998 to begin recording their label debut EP. Hellfest (American Music Festival)
Hellfest was an American all-ages music festival that existed between 1997 and 2005. The festival showcased hardcore music in its broadest sense, including punk rock, metalcore, emo, post-hardcore and more. It originated in Central New York, in and around Syracuse, but eventually relocated to Central New Jersey during its final years. Hellfest was known for its fan-friendly atmosphere, including a lack of barriers that provided easy access to the stage for stage diving and sing-alongs. It also encouraged social-awareness through workshops that discussed such causes as animal rights, LGBTQ and politics, with many of its bands and attendees following straight-edge and/or vegetarian or vegan lifestyles. Not unlike many festivals of its size, Hellfest encountered several problems, notably the changing venues mere days before starting. One Day Savior Recordings
One Day Savior Recordings was an American independent record label founded in 1997 by Christopher Tzompanakis. The record label was most prominent in the hardcore and indie rock communities, releasing metalcore, post-hardcore and emo by such bands as Boys Night Out, Dearly Departed, Embodyment, Hopesfall, The Juliana Theory, The Killing Tree, The Movielife, Onelinedrawing, Paulson, Skycamefalling, The Sleeping and Tabula Rasa. One Day Savior Recordings was originally headquartered in Williston Park, Long Island, New York, where it remained until it was put under hiatus in 2008. The company was eventually sold to Tommy Melissen in 2010, its operations relocating to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Under Melissen's ownership, the company lasted a brief two years and was officially put to rest in 2014 after two years of inactivity. The Sleeping
The Sleeping was an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York, United States, formed in 2003. The band was founded by Cameron Keym, Sal Mignano, and Joe Zizzo from the remains of Skycamefalling. After auditioning twenty-two potential singers, they came across Doug Robinson, former singer/guitarist of the band Stillwelle. Their music has been featured in video games including '' Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam'' for the ''Wii'', ''Madden NFL 07'', '' Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock'' ("Don't Hold Back"), '' Guitar Hero: World Tour'' ("Bomb the World"), and '' FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage'' ("Listen Close"). Ferret Music
Ferret Music was an American independent record label turned Warner Music Group subsidiary, founded in 1996. The label is owned by NORA's vocalist, Carl Severson, and based in West Windsor, New Jersey. Ferret recently started an imprint called New Weathermen Records. Warner Music Group's Alternative Distribution Alliance acquired a stake in Ferret Music in August, 2006, and as a result is currently distributed by Fontana Distribution, Alternative Distribution Alliance and eOne Music. As of September 12, 2007, Ferret partnered with an uprising extreme metal and hardcore punk label out of the UK, Siege of Amida Records (S.O.A.R.). S.O.A.R will retain A&R responsibilities. Good Life Recordings is a Belgian independent record label which was founded in 1996 by Edward Verhaeghe, who had been the lead vocalist of Nations on Fire. Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Converge is an American hardcore punk band formed by vocalist Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. During the recording of their seminal fourth album ''Jane Doe'', the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. This lineup has remained intact since. They have released nine studio albums, three live albums, and numerous EPs. Cave In is an American rock band that formed in 1995 in Methuen, Massachusetts.
