Sky Conqueror
Sky Conqueror (foaled May 9, 2002 in Ontario) is a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Out of the mare Heavenly Ballerina, a daughter of 1982 United States Horse of the Year, Conquistador Cielo, he was sired by Sky Classic, a son of the 1970 British Triple Crown champion, Nijinsky. Sky Conqueror was trained by Darwin Banach, Racing career Sky Conqueror was sent to the track at age three with his best Stakes race result a second in the Chief Bearhart Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto and a third at Churchill Downs in November's Commonwealth Turf Stakes. Back on the track in April 2006, he had a fourth-place finish at Keeneland Race Course before being sent north to race again at Woodbine. Sky Classic
Sky Classic (March 17, 1987 – April 30, 2015) was a Canadian Thoroughbred Hall of Fame racehorse. A son of U.K. Triple Crown champion Nijinsky, in 1989 Sky Classic won the Sovereign Award for Champion 2-Year-Old Male Horse in Canada but injuries kept him out for the most of the 1990 racing season. Back racing on grass in 1991, Sky Classic won six of his nine starts including the prestigious Rothmans International in course record time. The following year with Pat Day riding, he set a new race record in the Arlington Handicap, defeated Fraise in the Turf Classic Invitational at Belmont Park, but lost his two biggest races that year, a second in the Arlington Million to Dear Doctor, and another second by a nose to Fraise in the Breeders' Cup Turf. Nijinsky Stakes (Canada)
The Nijinsky Stakes is a Canadian Thoroughbred horse race held annually at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. Since 2009, it has been run in late July. The Grade II race is open to horses aged three years and up and is run on Woodbine Racetrack's E. P. Taylor Turf Course at a distance of one and one eight miles. The race currently offers a purse of CAD$175,000 added. Inaugurated as the Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy Stakes in 1998, it was raced during the third week of July on turf at a distance of miles. In 2002, the Chinese Cultural Centre sponsored the race and it was renamed the Chinese Cultural Centre Stakes. Maker's Mark Mile Stakes
The Maker's Mark Mile Stakes is a Grade I American Thoroughbred horse race for horses age four years old and older over a distance of one mile on the turf held annually in early April at Keeneland Race Course, Lexington, Kentucky during the spring meeting. History The event was inaugurated as the Fort Harrod Stakes on 13 April 1989 and was run over distance of about miles the won by the seven year old Yankee Affair who set a course record in winning the event in a time of 1:43. The following year the event was decreased to the current distance of one mile. Canadian International Stakes
The Canadian International Stakes is a Grade I stakes race for thoroughbred racehorses three years of age and up on Turf. It is held annually in October at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
